Re: whats the fastest you have gone in your thirdgen?
163 mph and yes, i got pulled over. this was done on an open road 3am and the only cars on the road was me and my buddy oh and the state trooper i BLEW past! got a ticket for 99 mph and no registration and my car got impounded.
the trooper was very curious how my IROC was able to go that fast so of course before the tow truck came i showed it to him and 3 weeks later i was working on his T/A
Re: whats the fastest you have gone in your thirdgen?
I've gotten my iroc well past the 240km/h mark but the front end got very light so I immediatly let of the gas. This was done in the praries on an arrow straight strech of road.

Re: whats the fastest you have gone in your thirdgen?
Going to find out the top speed of mine soon, when I have a license plate on it (imported car), I live 5 minutes from the German A31 autobahn, unlimited speeds there. Fastest I have ever driven was 305km/h or 190mph
Re: whats the fastest you have gone in your thirdgen?
i hit about 130 with my 305 and a 110 mph speedo the needle was resting on the trip reset button and it was still going the 130 is a estimate deff more then 120 this was done on I-81 At like 10:30 i was pissed so i went for a ride (stupid teenager mind) did that flying by a c6 vette lol
Re: whats the fastest you have gone in your thirdgen?
125-130 ish with the stock L98 top speed run, and then with the new 383 I went about 130 in the 1/4 mile with the nitrous. Trapped 126-127 but stayed in it for abit more. had to hit 130

Re: whats the fastest you have gone in your thirdgen?
It was 105 and damn it takes a long time to get to town at 105, thanks to some wiring shcematics and a switch ive been to 115 and a lil more with my TBI 305...
Re: whats the fastest you have gone in your thirdgen?
I buried both my 3rd gens. The TTA was probably closer to 165 or so based on what the tach read. Still was pulling but ran out of room.
Being dumb in a caravan going to Memphis '01 with a bunch of F-Body's. A 4th gen pulled out and did a run, so I had to do one also. There's a video of it somewhere out there

TTA 1387 can u find that video? i would love to see that
You'll have to ask Andris Skulte if he still has it. We were in the middle of it passing his Durango R/T with him out the window. If its out there anymore, he would have it.

Re: whats the fastest you have gone in your thirdgen?
My second Camaro was a '91 RS and I had been doing burnouts on an abandoned road in the afternoon and just let here go did about a 150 foot mark on my one wheel peel then continued to step on the ****ing gas till the road ended I only got up till 120mph and almost went of the road (god bless disk brakes).
Re: whats the fastest you have gone in your thirdgen?
i took mine just over 170 on a highway at 1am. i had two spotters take off well ahead of me. and one stick behind me. since then i have heavily modified my camaro. id love to see what its capable of.

Re: whats the fastest you have gone in your thirdgen?
hit 100mph in mine. i was headed home from work, hit the on ramp and wanted to see what happened when i floored it. car pulled like hell until about 90 with the little 305 tpi. after that it was hell to climb to triple digits. after i got there i let off, just wanted to have a little fun in my car since i just got back from iraq.

Re: whats the fastest you have gone in your thirdgen?
96mph because of the speed limiter and the fact that i ave not changed my drive/driven gears, 111mph when i flip a little switch i have but i dont go any faster untill i get a more accurate tach, mines way off and at 111mph im "technically" redlining the engine like crazy lol.
Re: whats the fastest you have gone in your thirdgen?
Wow, toyota h8r, didn't realize you were a F-body h8r too, LOL!
Yes that was almost 205mph, and no I am not joking. My cousin's best friend's family owned a machine shop that did custom machine work and fabrication for WRC race teams, and a lot of the work was performed in that shop. The Iroc was a bone stock 1989 350 TPI 5-speed car when I got it in late 1998 with a mere 35,000 miles on the clock. Heavily modified means: The engine was bored, stroked, balanced and blueprinted. Forged crank, H-beam rods, main girdles, forged 12.:1 pistons. Camshaft was a custom grind for the engine design and had a full roller valvetrain. Heads were World Products that were also ported, polished, and had enlarged and custom ground valves. The intake was a combination of aftermarket parts and heavily altered factory parts. A home built (well actually shop built) DIS ignition system was used along with a stand alone type ECM system, basically a laptop computer ran the car. It also had a Paxton supercharger running around 14 pounds of boost and a direct port nitrous injection system.
The transmission was a t-56 from a rolled 1998 Z28 (no the LS1 didn't survive the crash) that was re-geared and cold treated to withstand the application. The clutch was a dual plate hydraulic assist design, and the rear was a GM 12-bolt with Superior axles, Eaton differential components, and 4.11:1 gears.
The chassis and suspension were a mix of production aftermarket components and some custom fabricated tubular components, largely because there simply was not as much available for these cars then as there is now. Had a hydraulic assist Baer brake system, (yes there really is such thing, some vehicles came that way from the factory).
On the Dyno the IROC would pull roughly 785 HP and 850 ft-lbs of torque. The Nitrous hit was tuned to 250 HP, so yes it had plenty of power to hit 200. I ran it on the 1/4 mile in Pamona several times and it consistantly would run 8.8 at around 186 mph with drag radials, and with track tires on it could pull 1.3 g's on a skidpad (all your italian and other supercars are only at best good for .9 g's).
Unfortunately I have to use terms like "roughly" because I sold this car back in early 2000 and all of the timeslips and "paper proof" went with the car. But to give you an idea, I paid $5,000 cash for the car, and sold it for $28,500. Heavily modified truely means HEAVILY MODIFIED. BTW, this car was also my daily driver, that's the beauty of programable engine management. Didn't hurt that gas was also $.95 per gallon in southern California at that time.
