You going to be another to try and use the name eh? That's pretty cool ya know! What timing does it take? Theres no such thing as a "base" timing unit.... its mechanical, computer or vacuum controlled there bud... nice questions your asking... based on the questions you asked you don't know a whole lot yourself....

O and also its a point that Aluminum heads can't take as much heat as iron heads.... Boost creates heat, A LOT of heat and aluminum heads are not as dense so they can't take as much heat, therefore, can't take as much Boost/Compression.... Point proven...

Re: my car vs. '94 impala ss

What are you talkin about, Alum. Heads can't take heat or boost? Have you looked at any race cars or performance production cars with and without boost lately? Everyone including mfr. GM, Ford are using alum. heads, hell they are using aluminum blocks for that matter, I have been watching this conversation in disbelief for a day or two now. If you are going to get on here and spout off info at least try and be somewhat accurate. There is a reason everybody is running aluminum heads, it's because they work...

Re: my car vs. '94 impala ss

the fact that you know nothing of "base" timing is a little alarming

how can i say this...........you are in no way qualified to offer advise on performance engines in any way

as long as you know where to put the gas you will be ok lil buckaroo!!!!

heck even my wife knows how to set base timing and curve a distributor

Re: my car vs. '94 impala ss

Damn! You dont have anything else to do??

This isnt about who posses more knowledge than the other, you are wrong about one particular thing. Theres no reason to be defensive about it or to spout off like a spaz, there are countless people in all levels of motorsports that still opperate on mis-information so claiming a broad base of experience is pointless.

You dont have any relevant info on the subject other than flawed common sense "facts" and a small bit of experience. So why dont you educate your self and broaden your base of knowledge a bit.

Don't feel bad at least he's being civil on this thread and hasn't reverted to name calling. I've tried, to no avail! Base Timing? WTF? It doesn't get any simpler than that. Anyways have a good one!
