Saturday night i was getting some gas and i noticed a 4th gen (92-97 im guess like a 94) at the gas station. I pulled out of the station behind him heading the same way (not on purpose). I pulled out fast because i was messing with my friend in his bmw behind me. When i got close the camaro changed into the left lane in a hurry. I rolled up beside him we were doing bout 45-50 and i could tell he wanted to race so i hung beside him to see if he would honk (cause i don't have a horn). After a few seconds he took off and i followed, he pulled about half a car and it stayed that way till we shut down at 90. I rolled up beside him and asked him what he was running and he said "i'd tell ya but i'd have to kill ya" and thats all i got before he turned. I didn't know if it was a v6 or a v8 because i couldn't hear it over my car and i haven't raced many other cars. So did i hang with an lt1 or get my butt raped by a 3.4l v6?
my cars a 350
edelbrock 600 carb
edelbrock performer intake
a mild cam (don't know the specs)
headers
and i think my car has 2:73 gears (how would i find out?)
alright... well first off, 4th gens did not include 92's. they were still 3rd gens. im sure you didnt lose to a 6 cyl. Lt1s have a nice power ban and are decently strong engines. Thats what it most likley was.

thanks i meant 93'. Well im surprised i stayed with it so well, i wasn't catching him but he wasn't losing me.
thanks for the reply
honestly... those pre-ls1 v6's suck...i mean sure they are better than the 3rd gens v6's but they are not as fast as the later 4th gens 6's.I have a feeling that it was an lt1 ...but who knows
those v6's can run 16's which shoud be close to a stock mid-80's with 2.73 gears...I would say v6.....a Z28 would have badges (usually) and would run a low 14 if not a high 13 and smoke even a good running 350 tuned port.

lol musta missed the carbed not stock part. I know z28's usually have badges but it was about 1:00am and i couldn't get a good look at it.

You're gear ratio is stamped on the ring and pinion inside the diff. Take off the cover (you probably need to change the oil anyway) and it'll be stamped right there.

Thanks, i just ran the rpo code and sure enough 2:73 but thats fine with me it gives me something to upgrade.
