I got a good laugh.....

Ok, so this isn't really third-gen related, but since a lot of people on here like to see a r***r go down I thought I would share with you all what happened to me the other night. So I am out in the flats after dark in my daily driver, an '03 Ford Ranger 4x4, getting a set of off-road driving lights adjusted. I know the area I'm in is notorious for street racing as there is a lot of flat long stretches of decent road with nothing but fields on either side, and I hear the sounds of 4-cylinder cars approaching. As they pass I see mostly cars I recognize, some truely fast cars, and some r***d out heaps. One particular heap is a mid 90's Integra that is frequently in my neighborhood and is always throwing revs and speeding up and down the street. This guy sees me, turns around and does one of those "fly-by" things, turns back around again and pulls up next to me. Then he revs up his engine, attempts a burnout (which ammounts to little more than a tire chirp, auto tranny drops suck) and "speeds" off to catch his buddies. I just laughed at him and finished my adjustments.

So I get back into town, grab a bite to eat, and get to heading back to my shop to put my tools away. I'm sitting at a particularly famous stoplight that narrows from a 4 lane road to a 2 lane road about 300 yards after the intersection, and guess who rolls up next to me? Thats right the Integra, and he is throwing revs and evil looks my way. The surrounding roads were clear of people and traffic (around midnight) so I figured why not. The light goes green and I drop the clutch around 3K, and get a little chirp from my 30" AT's and can hear him dump neutral again. I pulled about 3 car lengths on him, got into the two lane and slowed back down to about 55 or so, after all that is the speed limit. He rode my bumper until we got a dotted yellow, then he passed me and sped off. Best part about it was I saw him yesterday driving up my street, there were no revs, and he was well under the speed limit! I almost fell over laughing so hard.

Sorry this is so long, but it was too good of a story to not share. I'm still laughing. For the record the Ranger is a fairly stock 4.0L 5-speed 4x4 with only a K&N F.I.P kit, Jet computer chip, Hurst shifter, and 4.11 gears (in prep for a 4" lift and 33" tires).

Re: I got a good laugh.....

Ok, another good one just happened last night. I was at the local Kragen store getting some new rear dif carrier bearings for my '79 Camaro and talking with a long time friend of mine that works there. He tells me that there was some young kid in there the other day talking a lot of crap about my car saying he "whooped my *** like I was standing still" with his "heavily modified Civic. My car is pretty well known, and is the ONLY one anywhere around that looks like it does, so when this kid described my car perfectly my friend knew he was talking about me. Another guy that works there that is into imports (a real tuner, not the fake ones we don't like) checked out this kid's Civic and said it is nothing but standard r1ce. He also told me this guy used to have a clapped out Accord that was one I have humiliated more than once, which is how this kid knew my car. The best part of my story is this kid says the race went down last weekend. My '79 has been in my shop with a disassembled rear end for almost 5 months now! I love it! I just laughed and told my friend "the next time he comes in tell him I am ready for a re-match, and that I'm looking for him". My car should be running again by Tuesday!

Since stuff like this seems to happen to me on a semi regularly basis I'll just post up some better ones here. Hope you guys get as much of a laugh as I do.
