K so my speedo is off by at least 10 mph. So the car said I was going 105 or so (was going 95 or less), & the limiter started kicking in at just 4 grand in 3rd gear! So im bouncing all over the seat while the Z was saying bye bye, going at least 120. I need this problem fixed asap. Any help? Do I need a chip? My car is stock with a 700r4. If it is just a chip then since its a stock set up, (& will be for at least a year or more) will a ebay chip work ok for me? The only time I can spend money on it is @ tax time. This year I spend a thousand on the interior, since the motors been rebuilt. Next year is my wifes turn to get Mustang parts. I should have got the exahust system, but I was tired of looking at the metal all over the interior, plus water leaked in the car.

What an easy mod. Has anyone here done this? Wonder about my 3rd-4th gear change since its in 3rd when the limiter kicks in.

I did it YEARS ago on my 92RS when we started TGO, then Bradley wrote it up, because I was too lazy to.

Only "downside" to it, is the CEL light.

When you kill the VSS signal, the ECM with turn on the CEL light, because it no longer sees the VSS signal, but does zero to the tuning because of that.

But once you flip the switch again & restore the VSS signal to the ECM, the CEL light goes, because all is good in the ECMs world.

K so it causes no trouble with the trans? He said it does. I have to be sure since I only get $500 a year to upgrade. It would be very bad for me to kill my trans.

I did it on my 92 RS 305TBI/T5/3.08 open rear car. Since the 700R4s aren't ECM controlled, I don't see how it could affect the trans, but don't take that as gospel. I don't know enough about 700R4s to say either way.

I have a question. My car used to never shut off. Ive had the car 7 years, 5 years ago I noticed my governor kicked in. I was racin a buddy he had a integra and I was smokin him then i hit 105 and boom. car shuts off, few seconds later his r i c er blows bye. That moment on he rubs it in my face. Did I fix something I shouldnt have because I dont have a clue what I did unless I reset the computer by the battery being unplugged.

unless you VSS didnt work at one time, but then your speedo wouldnt have worked, since you got a 92 its eletric , not cable driven

trust me, i was when i got mine up to 115 and it cut off, that was 8 years ago, soon after i went for a custom made chip

I looked up that guys chips but man the price is high. I bought a chip for my old 1994 bmw 325is on ebay for about $20. It did the same thing this guy's chip's do for $150+. Ill hold off for now. I also have to question the guy, cause he said that if you wanted more then 210hp, to get a 350. Not really what I wanted to hear. My motor is like new, so why get a 350 right now. Most parts also would work on a 350 anyways. Oh well. I have yet to find the right build. Have a lot of good ideas now though.

I found a custom chip on ebay for $75 I dunno if its the right chip but I would think so.

Yeah but they dont have a whole lot for the 3.1 liter. I found a cam kit, thats it though, the only thing I could do is get bigger bore and get my heads reworked.
