Stock TBI VS FWD Monte Carlo

Hey guys,
This stupid kid I know keeps bragging about his sweet American muscle car. It's a 1999 Monte Carlo, z34 I think. It's all stock. He keeps sayin he's got the fastest car of all the people at my high school (his is probably up there though, my high school sucks) even though I've got a 74 Nova with a 462sbc I'm putting in soon(he doesn't believe me). I told him his car was a 2 door Lumina one day and he freaked out, called him domestic rice the next day and he freaked out even more.

Anyway, I've currently got a mostly stock 90 Firebird formula, 305TBI. Only mod is the poor man ram air found in the tech articles on this site and I added an extra snorkel. Still gotta get rid of that thermac thing. So I think his car has a 3800 motor in it runing 200hp I think.

I know the kids gonna eventually wanna race. So who would win? I'm pretty I've got an advantage off the line but I'm not too hip on his car.
Sorry about the long post, can ya tell I was bored?
Alex

Re: Stock TBI VS FWD Monte Carlo

i remember the Lumina having a 3.4 DOHC V6 in the Z34... dont know if GM used it in 99' though. if it is that motor, youre probably gonna lose

however, if it definately is the N/A Buick 3.8, then it should be a low 16/high 15 sec car. your car, sadly, is probably in the same range

Re: Stock TBI VS FWD Monte Carlo

My grandma has a the same monte. It has the 3.4L v6. I have raced my dad when he was driving her car. The monte was fast but I still had it in the end.
I have a L03 just like you but with minor bolt ons.

If the time comes when you race him it should be a close race.
Just my 2 cents. Good luck and be safe

Re: Stock TBI VS FWD Monte Carlo

Thanks guys, that's pretty much what I expected. First thing I'm gonna do is lose the stock exhaust, gonna have straight pipes with a high flow cat. His car wouldn't start this morning, I offered to help and saw 3800 smack-dab on the engine. I whipped my brother in his Buick with the same engine, his has 380k miles on it though.
Thanks guys
