gsxr 650 vs iroc

i raced a gsxr 650 from a stop light the other day that sounded pretty pumped up. well i ended up beating the bike by about one length of his bike.he was shaking in his boots that i beat him. i have never raced my down the 1/4 what does that mean my car is good for down the 1/4 mile? specs are in sig. i am only running maybe 4psi of boost. hope to bump up to 10 next week when it goes to dyno.

Re: gsxr 650 vs iroc

what? the gsxr 650?
he must have been terrible at driving because he should have positively raped you in a short race like that.
once you get up to around 160, bikes start to slow down a bit, but under 100 or so, the power/weight ratio kills all.

Re: gsxr 650 vs iroc

What year was the bike? older 600's arent that fast...new ones i dont think you would touch

Your probly not even out of the mid 11's with that setup (which i think is a reasonable estimate if that motor puts close to 325 on the ground on motor which it can). 4lbs should be darn close if not over 400whp on a fairly healthy 383. 4lbs aint much but it certainly is enough to make a cool 400whp I would hope. Thats good for near 118-120mph traps but in a convertible which are suppose to be heavy, i'm not sure its happening.

10lbs would make a much more interesting race with newer small bikes. Alot of similar setups on 12-15lbs make near 600 whp which is stout for over 130 mph traps and run down small bikes no problem.

I ran a 91 600 bike of some sort in my bolt on L98 and was able to hang with him. he said it ran low 13's high 12's and i was doing mid 13's at the time.

Re: gsxr 650 vs iroc

i dont know how the 650 compares to a hayabusa, but the busa goes 0-60 in 2.6 and 0-100 in 5.6
i would imagine that a skilled 650 rider could manage around 3.0 and 6.2 or so...

those kind of acceleration times are hard to match in a 3200# f-body
he was probably taking it easy.
not to burst your bubble, but cars just dont beat bikes in a straight line.
they usually dont win in the twisties either.
and forget about braking.

the only place you would have an advantage is if you started at a 90 mph roll.

Was he running on only 1 cylinder and had his right hand tied behind his back? Are you sure the shaking in his boots wasn't from him laughing? It should have been no contest.

older bikes as in pre 96 or so before they started to get fast.... and new 1000's are extremely quick...i think it would be hard for any 600 to hang with a 1000

There is no such thing as a gsxr 650. It was eitehr a gsxr 600 or an sv650. With the sv650 being the slower of the two since it is a vtwin.

here is a link to what a stock 08 gsxr 600 runs in the 1/4
http://www.dragtimes.com/Suzuki-GSX-...lip-16127.html

a picture of an 08 gsxr 600
http://motoaus.com/images/stories/su...XR600-2008.jpg

and here's info on the sv650
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_SV650

with that said there's a lot of people that are scared to launch bikes for fear of looping it. Match that with inexperience and you've got the bike beat in a short race.

06 gsxr 1000. never been to the 1/4 strip but i've done the 1/8 one time and ran a horrible time. 7.4 at 107 in the 1/8th. I'm more into road racing then drag although i had a good time at the 1/8th.

many people riding a bike dont even have a clue how to ride or less make a good launch, i could wheelie my 02 1k in first gear so must are hesitant to gas it on take off. might have even been a poser rider that only rides a bike to impress people..

Re: gsxr 650 vs iroc

When I had my 06 CBR1000RR I ran it down the 1/4 mile a few times. Best I could get out of it was a 10.4 @ 140ish. My new bike, 07 ZX-10R, would probably run a little quicker then that.

Re: gsxr 650 vs iroc

from what i hear, launching a bike is the trick to getting low times.
10.4 at 140 is classic symptom of (in a car) lots of power and lots of wheelspin on the launch.
140 should put you in the high nines IMO

Re: gsxr 650 vs iroc

It's hard to make a really hard launch on a 1000 cc bike with the stock swing arm. If I tried to launch the bike hard I would end up riding a wheelie half way down the track or spinning the tire. If I remember correctly, the 06 CBR1000RR was tested a 9.89 @ 146 mph in the 1/4.

Re: gsxr 650 vs iroc

I have a GSX650F. The bike is a sport touring bike, stock the bike has about 87 HP. Not a real fast bike by sport bike standards. The bike can do 0-60 in about 3.5-3.8 secs and the quarter mile just under 12 secs. I would not race a pumped up iroc with that bike. I have a buddy with a GSX600R and his bike has about 120 HP and can do the 1/4 mile around 10 secs or so. No comparison. BTW see picture below.
