Would my 89 IROC beat my buddies 99 LS1?

Alright so I'm in the middle of rebuilding a motor for my car and it should be done in the next couple weeks just waiting on parts but I figured Id ask cuz I keep arguing with my buddy

I am rebuilding an L98 Block with stock 4" bore and a stock stroke crank (still kinda deciding if I wanna use a 383 crank for more torque but I dont wanna ruin my gas milage too much =P), forged flat top pistons and H rods

Puttin my LB9 heads on it for a bit over 11:1 compression... They have had a 3 angle valve job and have been resurfaced

Puttin my TPI intake setup on the block everything is already ported and polished

Im puttin a comp cam part # 08-412-8 it has 212/218 duration at .05 and .487/.495 with 110 LSA

Some hedman 68470 headers (im thinking about splurging and going with some new hooker 2460) with a modified dual cat y (adjusted the y to fit the headers and hollowed out the cats) into a 3" pipe into a dynomax high flow ss muffler. all the pipes are mandrel bent.

and a really good tune after the build and then another after I break the motor in.

needless to say its gonna be a torque monster

some small mods are a/c, smog and A.I.R. delete. RAM air boxes and modified my air filter lid to have a larger neck and unblock the filter and a 170 degree thermostat
I have a rebuilt wc t-5 and a borg warner 3.45 gear ratio rear end

if theres any more information you need just ask but I cant think of anything off the top of my head

now my buddy has a stock 99 ls1 trans am

the only things he has done to it is a magnaflow cat back on some hooker long tubes and hes about to put an ls6 intake on it.

now, I know he will catch up to me around 80-90mph cuz Ill have very low top end but do you think I got him in the 1/4 mile? he insists that I wont but im not sure I know in the 1/8 ill definately dominate as long as I dont spin my tires too much but what do you guys think?

You may be able to edge him out in the 1/8 mile, but I think he owns you in the 1/4 IF he has an M6. With his mods he should be running 12.7's-13.0's. Good luck.

He should beat you pretty good. If you want to look at a generic side by side, your TPI set-up, heads and cam are inferior to the LS1's cam, heads and intake. He should be making near 380 at the crank and you are likely at 300. However, you have a perfect foundation for future power .

heads/intake are what make power and yours will not make enough. you could maybe get a good improvement if you went with the holley hhr intake. your talking 4-500 bucks for 40-50 hp easy.
