Just lost to STI

His mods: Stage 2 turbo (which means nothing to me ), exhaust, CAI, 18psi (i think thats stock though idk).

Mine: In signature...

He's a friend of mine who just bought it and wanted to run, i have 2 video's from my phone but idk how to get them on the computer? they aren't the greatest video's because i had to manually shift from 2nd to 3rd and had to throw the phone down lol.

1st race: Fairly deserted back stretch of road: 11:30 am:
He's a fair good driver, not the best but pretty good. I just got new tires (275/60/15 radial t/a's) and i dropped them down to 30 psi. i can power break to about 1700rpm without burning out. With his AWD i swore he was ganna get me off the line but its not the way it happened in either race. We went on the third honk and i barely chirped the tires and hooked like a mad man and put a good length and a half between us, then proceeded to put another length on that. he gained back another length by the time we left off at about 120 but technically i won that race , turns out his foot slipped off the clutch when shifting to second lol, he made a quick recovery it just wasn't enough.

2nd race: Same senario:
Same thing except no shifting problems on his part, i got him off the line and was a head of him by a little over a length through 1st and most of second, he was got level with me at the top of second and when i shifted to third he pulled away putting about 2ft between his back bumper and my front. as i climbed third i stopped his pull gained maybe a foot then we came to a stand still, he couldn't pull away and i couldn't catch him. that's how it was when we let off.

I thought it would be more of a domination and i would get left behind but clung with him . closest race ive ever had really, but we don't have to many fast cars around here so ya. Just thought i'd share and see what ya'll had to say.

his cars a 2002 btw

those sti's are fast those are 13 sec 1/4 mile stock so with his mods I thinks he maybe in 12 sec, and beside your mods you know what they say about 700r4 ratios from 1-2, but dont give up go and get him back, btw let another friend record it!

Re: Just lost to STI

Ive never heard of a stock 2002 sti running 13 flat stock ever. beats me, all i knew is there is no way my camaro is in the 13 seconds, mid to upper 14's most likely. headers didn't get on cause of work complications, next weekend we are doing it for sure though, its about time.

2002 Subaru Impreza WRX 5.7 14.4
2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi 5.1 13.8

this is about all the information i could get. it does sound like i ran a WRX, its possible he just swapped the STi emblem over. but with the mods he supposedly has i still didn't think it would be that close.

As much as I dislike imports the STI is a quick machine. That 13.8 makes me laugh. Was that from road and track? The same testers who rate ls1s cars as 13.9 second cars lol. With a good drive an sti can hit high 12's low 13's. With an average driver I think mid 13's is possible. The car is VERY easy to launch. My buddy had one and he wasnt even a good driver. First time up at the track he hit a 13.2.

STI's are quick. My friend and I run dead even. He has an 05 STI with turbo-back exhaust and an intake.

STi's run lower 13's all day long with a good driver...maybe it's because the ones you've seen can't drive or due to your elevation or something...

Depends on the driver, as well as the sixty foot that he or she is able to cut....

A STi and a WRX are not the same performance wise...
