1983 z28 355ci vs 2008 Pontiac G8 GT?

Post your opinions...

1983 Z28 Camaro 355ci mildly built

The car is a 1983 Z28 Camaro with a '78 3500 GM Truck 4bolt 350ci 30-overbored, so I guess you can call it a 355ci. Has a 12 bolt rear-end, not sure about gears yet. Has brand new starter, power brake booster, wheels, and brakes. It has a Edelbrock 750 carb. 700R4 automatic transmission. B&M Megashifter. New interior. Newer Weian intake. Has all new air conditioning system in it. All new sound system with 250 watt subwoofers. 91/92 Z28 Spoiler. 91/92 Z28 Blisters. It has the LU5 plastic function cold air intake hood. But the Z28 hood blisters cover them up . Thats about it that we know so far. If I think of anything else I will add it. Mildly built with new head, not sure what yet. New pushrods. New Triple XL springs. Summit roller rockers. All I know so far. Ran on Premium gas only.

With Equal power the third gen wins. That said given what you posted would depend on cam and heads and exhaust. If Stock the G8 will cream you. And the compression in your truck 350.

Based on what info you've provided, assuming it's just a freshened up truck motor(since you didn't list what heads and cam you have) you're absolutely, positively, 100% toast.

I wouldn't even bother running to be honest.

13.8 1/4 mile, that's impressive for a family sedan out of the factory. Too bad they aren't making them anymore...damn you GM!!!!

I'll have to agree with these guys, you're beat, since your motor is only mildly built. Unless there's more mods you have?

Re: 1983 z28 355ci vs 2008 Pontiac G8 GT?

I will try to get info on the heads, the cam is a crane cam...tonight I will get the specific cam info on it. The engine has 6,xxx miles on it right now. Im not going to say positive but I don't belive the crankshafts are stock either. Also its a full flowmaster exhaust, still trying to find out what else is all on the car. Also I only say mildly because the guy we bought it from thought it was a 305, we found the casting numbers and it was a 350 out of a "78 truck. He just said a different cam was in it. We took the rocker arm covers off and found summit roller rockers and triple valve springs. How can I tell what the heads are, is there a vin or code or something I could identify them?

****, thats not what I meant, I meant I know for sure I don't have a stock camshaft. But still have to take apart the engine to see what is all done to it.
