Re: RACE OF THE CENTURY 4 cyl. mustang vs. 1987 v6 camaro

Seeing as though I had a 4-cyl Mustang, I can comment on half the race. Bear in mind my 4-cyl car was the fastest non SVO 4-cyl they offered (a 1993 with a stick rated at 105 hp).

My Mustang was slow. Probably slightly quicker than a 20 in the 1/4. Off the line the gearing got it out of the hole, so so. Anything after first gear and half throttle was about the same as full throttle. Full on red line power shifts, and it still was extremely slow. I only really raced one car with mine, and it was a friend at the time. He had an older (1989 4-cyl rated for 88 hp) Mustang with an auto. We raced and I pulled a bunch of car lengths on him.

I assume a V6 Camaro would take it, as it most likely is the 88 ho slug. A 93 would be a bit quicker, but once again the V6 should win.

This race is seriously like being the smartest kid with Downs(no offense to anyone that might have family members with this disease).

I hope you guys have about 5 minutes to complete the race, it's going to take a while.

Camaro gets the win but still loses.

The title of this thread says it all, since that's about how long it's going to take to finish the race.

I have wanted to see this race for years.

If any of you that still have the duke in your camaro, i would love it if you could tape a race with a 4 cylinder stang.

I didnt know ford had a n/a 4 cyl in the fox mustangs, I just figured they were the same turboed 2.3's found in the fox cougars and tbirds (which, would eat my 5.0 tbird alive)

either way, this race just sounds funny. I can hear it now.
