There was a red auto ss at the local track back in the summer. It could not get out of the low 14's. And this was with little to no wheel spin.

Haven't had the luxury to play with one yet, however there are 3 of the SS models that I know of running around my small little town. Know the owner of one through having gone to the same dinky school.
Planned on setting up a race in the late winter/early spring to give him a chance to learn how to drive the manual, and myself to finish the T/A's cam swap & Port/Polish. I lost what little lust I had for them once the 17(that I have counted so far) 2010s showed up in my town of ~24,000. I have beat a V6 model, and witnessed an SS slapped silly by a pullied/exhaust terminator but thats about it.
I almost bought one. I was really going to get one when they were doing the cash for clunkers crap. I got turned off of them when all I see is 50+ year old women driving the V6's every where. It is going to be like the IS 300 when they first came out. They are right around $20,000 for a new car...and everyone loves that. I think I have seen maybe 1, or 2 SS on the street since they came out...and probably 50 V6's! I think there are only a handful of thirdgens in my area that look decent and aren't totally ragged out pieces of crap...and only a couple of those are modded at all.
there was a supercharged one (yellow) and a black 4th gen trans am that was also supercharged.
the trans am won
I saw that. The Camaro had exhaust and a SC. The TA had full exhaust, intake, heads, and cam. Camaro couldnt get any traction so it wasnt much of a race.
there are a few SS 2010s running around my area. dont know if theyre modded or not, however. a stock one wouldnt give my car any trouble tho... ive got a 600lb and 50hp advantage

97' Saturn SC2 (1.9L 4cyl DOHC/5speed)
- also 100% bone stock, but much slower than the Regal!
98' Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (LS1/4L60E/3.23s)
- hard to believe, but its actually 100% bone stock also!
I took down a RS in my moms Cavalier...kinda. A 65 roll with a car length doesnt really count as a race IMO. But I heald him off till 103mph(he was gainin). He slowed down got behind me then we slowed back down to 65 then he pulled a ***** fly by on me. He lives by me so I went by him in the sweet cavi and let him hear the sweet stock beast. LOL good times

Wonder if an L98 could take a new v6 camaro. Would prob be close. I think both are lower-mid 14's
my buddy has a v6 camaro and wanted to race my stock 99 trans am which runs 13.4's at 104... about where a great running full bolt on L98 would run. I'd have no problem beating him, so a stocker L98 would be a closer race with a V6 5th gen
I wouldn't be so sure. The new V6 makes 306hp and almost that much in torque. You'd be hard pressed to beat it, especially since it has a 6-speed auto in it.
Direct Injection and VVT make up for the lack of displacement it has. The V6 IIRC is almost a 12:1 engine. That and the engine redlines at 7500rpm.
It is def a race I would like to participate in, Im just hopin after my tpi to carb swap I pick up a lil bit. Ive already got 3 races waiting. My buddys Mustang Gt, another buddys SRT-4, and then one of my ex girlfriend's boyfriend with his lil Benz, I waxed his last car (R!cer) and now time for his new ride

I've been in my buddys V6 5th gen several times. My 99 TA with 2.73 gears will out pull it. LS1 puts out more than 340hp and that much in torque. A full bolt on L98 is about as fast as the TA, maybe just a tick slower. It probly be a good race for a V6 5th gen
how much power are the 2010's making to the wheels all i hear is 425 425 i know thats at the crank are they any dyno vids out there?
They are ranging from 360-380 depending upon the mileage and other minor factors. With upgraded exhaust they have been putting down closer to the 390 mark.
Not in my car - as my car only probably is sitting around 270-280crank hp.
However we had some kid in an SS go flying past us in the parking lot a lot of us car guys meet up in on nice nights. We all decided to go after him - I rode in a friend's awd talon. Eventually he got on the highway and we followed him and the first of us to line up with him was my friend in his 95 turbo civic. He completely destroyed the SS.
Then another of my friends in a 94 Z28 lined up with him but he wouldn't run.. Also wouldn't run the talon and then we figured he had his pride hurt... You'd know why if you see the civic that beat him - it's just a dented up, beater looking car with fair rust in some places even haha.

Under the knife for 2011 10 second build!
my gf has one of the v6's, they're pretty quick for a stock car (imo) and it's more than enough power for her. I raced my dad in his 09 dodge ram (quad cab hemi, 390 hp) and I smoked him. His truck weighs way way more but it was still a fun race.

A new SS in the 14's = needs a driver mod. The biggest problem I've heard from people on the new SS is getting them to hook, especially with the standard trans.

As far as the SS, I aint scared
13.4 is with average joe driving. Most run low 13's. I hit 12.8 at 109 with just lid and exhaust on stock tire.

HAHAHA Great vid. I would have loved to have seen those guys faces. That Is one bad cavy. As for a driver mod. Not much of one needed when it was an auto I saw racing. Flat to the floor with little to no wheel spin and 14's all night long. He was busted all night long by newer Mustang GT's and a 2000 TA with over 100k of hard miles on it.
On the other hand, towards the end of fall, a guy showed up with a new SS that was a six speed. This guy had traded in his 01 SS six speed for this car and he was a regular at the track with his old car. All night long he pulled mid to high 13's and was a consistent 12.80's with his old car. Needless to say he was very sick and with a payment book to boot as well.

i have a flat black stripped cyber gray 2ss ls3m6 # 8485 to be exact. The only car that ive lost to was my buddys 427 AC Cobra and after my new mods are in im sure we'll be a little closer. Sway bars (pfadt) and lowering springs ,
CAI cold air, and new 373 like the vettes, gm hot cam, and next winter, the full linginfeter package.
my 84 with a bored 283 and all the normal bolt ons feels like a lump, no comprason

I haven't had the oppurtunity yet, I did take down an 04 Cobra SVT yesterday w/ a few mods, more boost, injectors, exhaust, tune, etc. First run of the year. Nice guy driving that Cobra, he asked me if I was on the spray! I have to admit I did enjoy the look on his face when I told him no, it's all motor...

Reason: poor grammar, spelling
I have yet to race one but I would be a damn good matchup against one. I'm betting from a dig i would destroy one since most of the guys are old and can't drive or are afraid too. But in theory they have more motor than me and more potential, but hey i'm happy with a 12 second street car
Heh. I "took down" a new SS Camaro up to about 40mph last week, then he went by me like I had hit a cement-mixer. A 140rwhp advantage will tend to do that...

Did you mean cobra svt? Thats impressive considering how the 03-04 sc cars usually dyno right around 370rwh bone stock.
Yeah i should probably fix that! It was an SVT, very fast car! I believe they made 370 @ the flywheel though? I didn't pull on him til the top of second at about 6K rpm. Pretty happy w/ the way i'm running right now. last fall I ran mid 12's, not really setup for the strip though...
We had a customer buy a 2010 SS. Also ordered long tube headers, cats, complete exhaust, lowering suspension, lighter flywheel, heavy duty clutch, & a short throw shifter. Then paid our technician to take it to a tune shop for the day. He bought all this & didn't even take it home yet. It dynoed 520 rwhp & 476 rwft. It will turn the rear tires to smoke at will.

That dyno must have been really messed up. Hennesseys supercharged wont even dyno that high.
My ex gf has an 2010 v6 camaro her dad gave her right out of boot camp when she came back, raced her several times, my L98 keeps beating her camaro til 120mph then its game over, she goes on pass me. I have a stock L98 with aftermarket air intake, dual cats, 3 inch magnaflow catback with a cutout. Its pretty fun race actually. anybody that has an l98 should race some these v6 camaros, especially if your starting from a dead stop, the torque on the l98 if hook right, you will murder the camaro til about 80 then they come back, and normally they dont get around me til 120.
Totallly uneven and unfair race He is on street tires, stock gearing with near 500whp but its not 100% tuned yet. Car should trap near 120 when said and done, maybe more. He ran 12.8-13.2's at 115-116mph with horrible 2.5-2.6 60 foots by bogging so hard off the line. Leave at 2500 it bog and almost stall, leave at 3000 it blow tires off. He needs more seat time in the car, he just got it. These cars are pretty quick with bolt ons let alone ported heads/cam.
