JR4444:

I live east of I-10 and Wilmot but I typically don't go that far west in town. The Bug used to be in black primer, but it's faded grey. And I had to take the straight pipe "stinger" exhaust off and put the dual mufflers back on as per the Pima County Sheriff's office. And the last time I ever drove on Speedway I got a ticket for passing an unmarked cop car with the open exhaust on a Saturday night. They decided to tack on following too close, unsafe lane change, broken window, failure to yield, etc.. etc... so I stay away from Speedway at all costs except to hang at my brother's apartment.

Here's another sorta silly race: My 1990 Iroc-Z vs a 1997 VW Jetta. We were rolling down an empty road outside of town and he decided to take off on me. I let him get far enough ahead to where his tailights barely flickered and then I stomped on the pedal from 55 mph. It took only a few seconds to catch up to him and I passed him at 110. That's one more thing I like in the Iroc over the Bug... I can do 110 in the Iroc and it doesn't sound like the engine's going to start throwing parts at me. Plus, it takes two hands to keep the Bug in line at that speed.

The weird thing about that is I was right next to you on Speedway when that happened! Your car was soooo load back then, and that's why I remember your car and that night.

Nope his 100 HP Civic was just too Dam light! J/K Actually I gave hip the jump and then I gave it about 1/2 throttle and murdered him. By the time I turned around he was already back at the starting line letting his Girlfriend back in the car, (do to the weight reduction he wouldn't let her ride with him) Lets just say she had a long ride home on the bare metal floor of his Civic.

Rice. what else can I say? There are way too many ricers here that think clear brakelights make a car go fast. I did get beat by my brother's 88 IROC Z28, but he's got way more mods than I, so it was to be expected... although I had almost a carlength on him for a *** while!

i was comming off an exit ramp for the highway, this guy in a 98 camry was kinda tailgating me so when we were on the ramp i took off just for the hell of it, when i was like 8 carlenth down the road i slowed to the speed limit... i look in my rearview and i slowly see his car coming up on me... then he passes me all i hear is EEEEeeEEeEEEEeEEE (teen driver looks over with a smile) i had a friend in the car and we were like "what the hell does he think he is doing?" so i just put in 4th and matched his speed, we were side by side then i hit it... he was gone... after a slight turn in the highway he wasnt in sight...

i do all i can to get cars that u know are fast to race.. even when i know and they know its pointless..

ive beaten up on many of the ricers around here... mostly integras... wit da usuals..

but ive also got a few cars to show me wat they had..
mid 90's 911 (dont know they years of these to well)
2 vipers...
2k Vette
etc...

but my favorite race was when i was at work.. i work for a rental car company.. and we have those lovely race car inspired Chevy Metros wit da 3 cylinder engines (2door = 3 Cyl.. 4dr = 4cyl).. Anyways this punk kid in a 2001 Mustang Gt (who i know works at the dealership.. thinks he is hot ****) anyways long story short... i pull onto the 3 lane road ... mid afternoon... and i look over and there he is .. so i put in nuetral .. give him a rev and proceed to start goin as fast as that little thing could... i heard him hit the gas...well i did beat him ... but only cus i was smaller and could weave in and out of traffic...

but i won

i race everything possible in them metros...

ok i didnt actually do this in my firebird cause ti aint on the road yet. I did this in my 1996 Chevy beretta z-26 (3100 v-6). i pull up to this light an di look over and theres a frod focrap (focus) over there. He looks at me i look at him light go green and we take off i swear i wasn't out of second when i saw him way back in my mirror. i also had one fo my friends in the car. and oh yeha the last day i had my beretta before i totalled it i pulled up next to a chivc and he revved at me. my friend and i looked at each other and started laughing. I put it in neitral and started revvign back. we did thsi prolly about six time while wating at the light. the lgiht went green i waitne a few seconds and floored it , leaving a nice amount fo smoek behind me as i went. Yeah i dotn think hell try that again.

For fun I raced a '78 Vette with a 6-71 blower. I was driving a '91 bird w/ a V6 at the time, and b/f the trans could downshift from third to second, he was about a 1/2 mile away.

In my beat up old s-10 blazer (RIP, sniff) that ran one about 3 cylinders, I raced a postal truck down my street. I had him off the line, but he was gaining...I only won b/c he had to slow down for another mailbox.

No one will race my new car...it kinda sucks. For some reason only little geeks in R/T neons want to try. A good 2nd-3rd chirp explains I don't need to waste anymore gas on them.

The most embarrassing race I've seen was a buddy of mine had a nice 80s 5.0 Cougar. We were in high school, and he had all the cool bolt on stuff and thought his car was untouchable. So we're down at the local spot and he's lined up waiting for someone to race him when a little Dodge Omni-lookin' thing pulls up. Mind you this car looked like a total POS, and had four people in the car including the driver. My buddy just laughs, says some macho Bs and they race. Turns out he was racing one of those damn 80s Shelby cars (whatever they were) and he got friggin smoked! He said the worst part was seeing four people wave at him as they caught and passed him about halfway down the track.

Meh.

I raced an 84 vette in my grandpas 79 F-150. Before you laugh though, listen. My grandpas truck has the original 460 in it. A huge, monstrous aftermarket carb. The tranny was recently rebuilt, with a heavy duty edge to it. It also has a posi rear end. Gear ratio is in the high 3's somewhere. All the smog was removed and the truck had a true dual exhaust with 10 year old glasspacks. One could definitely say it was loud. I SPANKED that vette. Guys, i aint bs'in on this one. im serious. Never lost a race in that truck.

Lol, sweet heart, i bet you're real cute-- but there's no such thing as a "2000 5.0 mustang" lol..
Maybe he did an engine swap...but i doubt that a blazer will beat that mustang-- even if the stang were a v6, it'd take the blazer...

Lol, and ur signature is stupid too... sorry to be so harsh-- steroids got me crazy--- stupid comments, and made up stories piss me off too...there are plenty of mustangs that will blow ur doors off, dont' be stupid

Anyways, let me try to figure this out....
So this 5 liter 2000 stang which doesn't exist is REAL slow, slow enough that a blazer can beat it... and then ur car is just so fast you can beat a blazer...

So baby cakes, let me know what mods you have, b/c i'm just curious, i'd like to know if you'll be able to take the 12 second stang i'm getting, or my 14 second iroc....

thanx man now I found something that maybe I can race since they have about the same size motor as I d0 a whole 1.3L or for you domestic ppl 80cid

oh yeah and there is my race with the geo metro vs my celica once

well as most of you prolly know (like you really care since it's not a third gen j/k) I broke the rx7 and to anyone out there that can hit 6000-7000 rpms dont dump the clutch at that rpm time after time again with a driveshaft that is going. trust me it will go one day but I now drive my 78 celica.

mods on the car include 3 tires in the back. a microwave and all my spare rx-7 parts that are stock ( tail lights, intake, exhaust and other crap ), thick black oil, studded tires, and aero fenders that flare out the faster you go (dont ask) still at 248k I am pushing about 150 comp on all 4 cyl. no airpump. no p/s removed a/c, CAI(if thats what you want to call it)

well I was at a stop light and this metro pulls up next to me and I am feeling good ok. figure it's prolly going to be a good race. I mean he is pushing about 1L and I have 2.2L and hell I am even modded right. so I rev my motor a few times and the looks over at me and just laughs and revs back. so here we are at this light both of us just reving our motors. my 4 cyl and his 3 are just pounding like mad and then the light turns green, dump the clutch get mad amouts of tire spin for a whole 1/2 a second and I'm off with a perfect launch. at about the end of the crosswalk I have 2 foot on him just flooring it. and I feel like I have a win comming up. he shifts into second gear and I hear his tires chirp and I am getting scared here. him and his mighty 3 cyl are gaining on me by halfway through the intersection.... oh sheit I think and pray for more power. hit the end of the intersection pullin about 20 mph still in first and he has about half a car on me by now. shift my *** into second gear cause I dont want to hurt the motor and all with how many miles it has on it and almost just almost chirp the tires but since I have good grip in this car to handle all the bad A$$ power I have I dont spin them and hit up about 2 feet on him by about 1 car after the intersection. we are now pushing about 35 by this point and he just starts to pull away from me like I was just standing there. I give it all I have and even let it rev up a little more to let the carb open up the second barrel. and I start to see he is not to gain anymore but damn he shift onces again and starts to pull away from me.... by the time we hit 45 he had 2 cars on me

I've never raced a car (no car or license), but I heard abiut a civic that beat a viper and my brother claims he beat a riced out NSX in his 98 Plymouth Breeze and his only "mod" is we were bored and put a go kart K&N, that my dad found in the trash at the track I race at, on were this weird tube that we think was an air baffle was and a home meade tornado. I don't think that he actually won that one though

Lets see on the topic of riced out Festiva's i have one. A guy at my school has an early 90's red festiva. He put a fart pipe on it, has nos octane booster in a little bracket up on the A piller, white vinal stripes, and could only afford two 13inch aftermarket wheels of some sort. I pulled up behind him one night on the way to pick my sister up from band practise and we go off at the same exit well after a couple lights we end up lined up next to each other. I am in my dads 350 2wd suburban with about 140,xxx miles at the time and never even drove it hard since its so big (still dont, its a truck not a sports car). Anyway he looks over and throws the fart pipe rev (all four hampsters). I thought he was jokeing, but i had never really wailed on the burban before so i figured what the heck, if i loose its because the damn thing weighs 2 almsot 3 tons if i don't then he looks worse than he does already. Light turns green and i take it easy on the launch since it isn't my car, has a much bigger engine than my gremlin (my car at the time, 4.2l I6 that was a fun car). After a few feet i notice he is really beating the engine and i was ahead so i figured might as well really embarASS him so i went from halft to WOT and put probably 10 car lengths on him before 45mph. It was sad, followed by the rice boy fly by.

Ahh now for a favorite from the gremlin files. I was just out cruiseing one night after work and came up to a light. Then all of the sudden i see this white manual 4cyl 93 or so escort wagon with to trailer trash kids in it (crooked teeth, 6 fingers, crossed eyes and cockbottle glasses with wife beaters on) pull up and look at me funny Any way i didin't think much of it and went at the light. The of course start smaking the little hampsters hard and even chirp 1ST! any way at this point its kinda funny so i lay into the gremlin and its massive single barrel carb (the upgrade was a 2bbl). I imeadiatly left them looking at my rather nifty gremlin gascap and tail lights and had 15-20 car lengths on em. It was sad. Granted i could scare F-bodies..... for the first 30mph because of the torque that thing had (around 210 at 110hp and a 3.23 rear end in a 3spd 904 chrysler trans). That storie i told many a time over because of the simple stupidity and proof that you really shouldn't keep it in the family.

Funniest race I ever had was when I still had my Dodge Omni. Oh my *** this thing was riced out. This was before I stopped smoking crack and actually invested in American muscle. Anyway, I was up north and I raced some kid on his moped. Sad thing is, he had me by like 1-2 car lenths until about 25 mph. I almost lost. I was still embarrassing.

My stupidest race

My Camry vs. my friend on foot.
Twenty foot race (to his mail box from the fire hydrant, I believe).
I even powerbraked it and still lost.
We were both in tears laughing at the poor car.

he reved i cried...he didnt cream it off the line but gave it enough to let me know that i wasnt even close..his nose went into the air like a snob looking at a commoner...

FORDS

Some kid wanted to race me in his Ford Zx-2, (a 2 door escort sport) when I was still in High school in Hawaii. This is when my Rs was still TBI injected. I was still the top dog on the island for street racing, (it had a ram air, cam, etc.- just about every thing you can do to a TBI but heads and bottom end) anyway, wwe went to A spot 1st race we both launch at the same time, in about 3 seconds I had him by about 5 cars.

2nd race - give him a 2 car lead, i bring my r's to about 2500, he gos, I launch and pass him before he could shift into second ( he had a 5 speed) and before I could even shift either. He says " lets go one more time, give me a five car lead, I'll take you", I said " I just wasted about 1 dollar in gas, i won't waste anymore!!!"

The two funniest races i had were in my 95 Taurus. It has a spoiler and 145hp and 165 ft/lbs. Well my friend (Curt86iroc) was in his dad's 88 or so S-10. It's the six cylinder 3.4 i think is the litres, but anyway when he floors it it sounds like it is about to blow up! So one night we went to 7-11 to see the cool ricers and on the way back on this two lane road, i hear his car starting to blow up so i know he's flooring it. I was about 2 cars back so i looked at my friend and just smiled and floored it. Now the Taurus is pretty slow but i pulled past him like he wasn't moving. The blowing up sound got even louder as i past by because he had it floored for so long and didn't let up. The other race was against my girlfriend's 96 Saturn. Slowest car i have ever driven. We raced at a stoplight for fun. She even had it in "performance" mode and i won by like a car at 60. I was surprised she kept up so well.

I used to have fun beating my friend's '94 Escort GT auto in my '89 Grand Prix 3.1. Those were some pathetic races.

Even better, though, was going with another one of my friends to the local dragstrip with his '88 Toyota 4 banger 4X4 pickup. He ran about 5 runs in the low 20's but on his last run finally managed a high 19. The best part was cheering for him on each run and having people look at us like we were insane.

Stupid??

Me lining up at a light and someone (usually an import) seeing my red firebird. Little do they know that my car has the IRON DUKE 4 cylinder. I don't even try. I play it off like Im too cool to drag and Im only out for a cruise. I just wish I could put the hammer down and smoke them of the line.

Don't get me wrong Ive tried. But my engine is just way too small for the car and their light weight cars just pull away from me.

Funny story. I had my car at a cruise in and as everyone was leaving for the evening all the people lined up at the gate to provoke people to do burnouts. My bro exited first with his TPI 350 84 Camaro and lit em up. Got a good cheer. As I pulled out I saw everyone looking at me with wide eyes thinking my bird could do something. So I revved it up high and popped the clutch and to my surprise I got a good wheel spin with a nice sound. Still pathetic though.

One of these days, if my wife lets me I'll treat myself to a nice Ram Air Trans Am and have some serious fun.

Here is a picture from the cruise in. My bro's black camaro is next to my bird.

My favorite was a girl I knew, she had a little nissan or something and thought her car was fast.
I have an 84Z with the l69 and 5-speed.
I was following her one night (we were both heading home taking the same road) on a back road and she was driving fast trying to be cool, so i decided to show her what real power can do.
We were doing about 60 when we came on a passing lane, i threw it down into 3rd and hit it. I went buy her like she was standing still.
The next day when i saw her, she was just like, I had it floored and you went by me like nothing.
We got a good laugh out of it.

Let's see...

-I raced a Ford ambulance on the highway in my old 89 Maxima, and smoked him!
-me and 3 other people in my friend's old Jeep Wrangler got spanked by a Caprice Taxi in Boston coming home from a car show
-repeatedly beat an S-10 truck in my buddy's old primered LG4 beater Monte Carlo Pseudo-Sport (fake SS)
-repeatedly beat a carload of ricers in a new Saturn while they tried to do a "***** flyby" in my 79 T/A
-believe it or not, the same friend with that Jeep beat a 98 Mustang Cobra in his built 360, 4-speed manual 88 Dodge Ramcharger 4x4, on the highway! We roasted the 'stang, and a couple minutes later, he did a "***** flyby". That Ramcharger is nuts!

Stupidest race I ever had? Hmm, the one that comes to mind is when I got 5 Puerto Rican guys in a '95 Maxima arrested. I was coming home from my college at 2AM on the service road of the Long Island expressway when this maxima with 5 Puerto Rican guys pull up at a light and they all looking at my car and yelling and cursing me out in spanish, yadda yadda. Didn't want to race and I needed to take it easy as I was having issues with my tranny mount so I throw them a few revs at them and light turns green we go for it. I give just enough gas to keep nose to nose with him (a little more than 1/4 throttle, and I still beat him by a little off the line). We're coming up on the next light that has a camara on it to get pics of people who run red lights, so I time it and just keep up with them. Lights there take about 10-15 seconds to turn red. At around 65 the light turns yellow, so I put my car into neutral and give it more gas, revving it to 4500RPM so they can hear my exhaust as if I'm gunning it. I look over and see one of the guys in the backseat slapping the driver's seat as if he was telling him to go for it. Then I hit the brakes hard as we come to the light. End result, I stop just in time for the red, the idiots fly past at 90MPH. Get this... there was a cop car at that intersection and they went right after the Maxima. Never expected those guys to be there. Light turns green and I drive normally, when a few miles down the road, I see the Maxima pulled over with all 5 people outide, positioned assumed, hands on the car... now that was a really funny sight.

Hmm the best race i ever had was in the 92 RS camaro(its dead now). Alabama state trooper pulled up to me at a stoplight a started tossing revs my way. i started out normal( its a cop after all...even though he was in Mississippi at the time) and he keeps tossing revs my way...so i guned it all the way. Got to about 110 and i waved him by. Fun race..i had him to about 100 though

Well, I've had three stupid races that I can think of. Two of which was with the T/A. The other was when I had my MPV(van) and I raced a late 80s-early 90s grand am. Sad thing was that the poor guy couldn't get away from the poor old minivan.
Then there was this guy in a Denali(suburban looking SUVs) catching up with me and raced me from a light. I guess he thought it was a V6 and not a T/A.
The other was an attractive woman in a minivan giving it wot and I wasn't even racing and was right next to her. I looked over and saw her laughing her *** off.:sillylol:

i raced a honda civic i knew i could beat and i wrecked my 1988 iroc-c 5.7 (R.I.P) during the process.

i learned quite a few lessons:
1. dont race a car you had already beaten a few lights ago.
2. dont race in traffic.
3. watch out for dodge caravan's!! (i rear ended it, when the honda served in front on me and then to my right and left me to hit the van that just pulled out in my lane going like 30 in a 45 mph zone)

fixed it

Ok, i got to add mine here.

A LIMO tried to race me once. That was funny stuff. I heard someone revving, and looked around to see the limo driver leaning on the wheel, looking over revving up.

HEhe I floored it for fun. I figure he just wanted to see me pull a 1/4.

Also, I was walking home once (car was in for repairs) and I saw two UPS trucks pull up besides eachother, both revving like mad. I stopped and watch them launch at a green light. Drove right past me as I was jumping up and down yelling out, "yeah!!!"

I laughed my *** off! The newer ups truck totally took the old beat looking one. I'm sure the guy in the newer truck was a better driver too (he started the race)
