There is a kid in my school with a 2001 Hyundai Elantra that keeps trying to race me. The only time I was next to him was on a side street with him on the wrong side of the road, and I wont take that risk.

I wouldn't call it a race, but the other day I pulled out of a parking lot onto a street when this guy in a new white Buick LeSabre did the same a couple secs sooner from a different parking lot. I didn't cut him off or anything and I was in a different lane than him and he floored it to try to pass me, I floored it and easily got up to about 85 while he was many car lengths back.

Last saturday night some fool in a Hyundai Elantra 5sp tried to race me at a light. By the time I saw his car shift into second the race was over. I kept my auto in first then went into OD to get that good V8 gas mileage

Me vs 85 or 86 Olds Cutlass Saloon. My lil cousin talked too much about how fast his car is but hes constantly dogged. He didnt know that his V6 only has 110hp. He tried to do a burnout and his car shut down in front of his whole school. I know he felt dumb pushing his car home

"and a 5.0 Capri"

Whats stupid about that? Same thing as a mustang and some are quick, but unfortunately most i see are beaters.

Stupidest race i was ever in was back in my first car, an 86 buick centuary 4 cyl auto. Me and a freind of mine were all over town dukin it out, my car vs his 2.3 85 mustang.
I don't think anybody even realized we were racing, talk about SLOW cars! They both topped out at about 90 on the interstate...

An angry fat person in a Geo Metro threw revs at me at a light. When he did that, my 10 year old brother started laughingat him so hard he had tears running down his face. He had me busting up too. Then, the light turned green and I was laughing to hard to use more than light throttle, and he still couldn't pass me.

The stupidest race I had was with a guy in an LT1 Z28 that didnt get the point that my car was way faster than his the first 3 times I put 4 - 5 carlengths on him from a 55 mph roll before shutting down. He just kept trying and trying...eventually the last time he punched it I just waved him on and didn't bother.

What's the difference between a porkipine and a BMW. The pricks are on the outside. BMW drivers are 90% dumb and only 10% have a clue and know that the pedal isn't an on/off switch! I wonder if some of them even look at the tach or if they just try and listen for the engine (so quiet).
Nobody ever races me Seriously they never try anymore. The only true stoplight race I ever had was in my VERY first car, a v6 91 firebird against an eclipse convertable. I took him by half a car length and I had a friend in the car. It was so slow and pathetic but fun.

my girlfriend was driving her moms 4cyl cavalier and my buddy was driving his 4cyl nissan truck. We raced at a light, and he smoked a tire and we chirped for a second. Side by side until about 50mph when she started to pull away from him. It is so funny how even a slow car race can be that exciting. -Randy

I got my first ticket in the stupidist race I ever had. My 88 2.0 cavalier(my first car) against........I don't even remember what it was, something with a V6, is all I remember. Not only did I get spanked hard, I also got a ticket when a cop came over the hill and happened to pick me for the ticket instead of the other guy. Luckily my engine was so damn small so I never had a chance to get to far over the limit, and was only doing 10 over. At the time I was in Iowa, and the ticket only cost me like $45 and never went on my CO record.

When I still had my 200,000 mile 305 with almost no mods this kid pulls up to stoplight with his girlfriend and starts revving in a 92-93 Dodge 1/2 ton pickup. I left him and his not entirely impressed girlfriend about 2 carlengths behind. That evidently wasn't enough because he tried again and surprise, surprise same result.

My friend Bob has a 2002 honda accord, whenever we are at a light I look over at whatever is beside us and say, "Looks like that xxxxxx wants to race ya Bob." Yesterday he beat a school bus and a public trans bus

Stupid races I've had.. just about every ***** that thinks ground effects and window stickers make their car fast. I haven't met a fast one yet. Also my co-workers 5.3 dodge pickup, those were some pretty funny ones.

Dumbest race i ever had was against this guy in a 85 trans am who said it had a corvette motor in it. I had hm pop his hood and it turned out to be a carbureted 305. He insisted that it was a vette engine and that his car would run 12s (he had never actually been to the track). We decided to race and lined up at a stop light. It turned green, and we both floored it. He got traction and i just spun wheel for the entire first gear. He probably thought his T/A could hang with me until i shifted out of 1st and into 2nd. Within four seconds, i was at about 60 mph and about 5 car lengths ahead of him. I let him catch back up to me and then kicked his butt again. Theres too many of these people where i live, all saying their cars have vette motors in them and they have 400 hp and such.

Does it count if you make some one feel stupid??? There was a guy down at the track in his new viper talking about how fast it was. I offered to race him...he says...whadda ya got? I said...just an 89 Iroc. When we lined up and I went 12.0 to his 12.4...he really felt stupid and wouldn't even look at me in the pits. Funny how a little hard work and $7500 can get you more than some yuppie with 70k.

more than I can count!!!

the best one so far?? driving home on 64w in Norfolk on halloween night in my '93 3000GT SL 3.0L DOHC V6,auto some schmuck in a newer chevy Z71 pickup starts to pull up on me while his passenger's giving me looks, then he force feeds this thing some more gas just to get ahead of me @70mph to let me get a glimpes of his dual 4" tip flowmasters (all due respect to chevy's & flow's) this prick probably had no clue. I messed around with him for a couple of miles until his passenger waved from 8-10 car legnths ahead..........perfect time for the kill,I was triyng to stretch my gas budjet out that week but..oh well.....pedal 3/4 to the floor, computer does the downshifting (no sliping, this isn't a 700r4) wound her up to 7200 briefly,I blinked and I went from 85 to 135!! it's not hard to do with a 3.9 drive ratio. the sad thing is that I forgot to switch it out of OD and left it in "econ" mode instead of switching to "power".......sure it was fun,but gutless. I had to wait a couple minutes for him to catch up and he was done racing, all I could do was point and laugh!!

the cheap ricers give me more attention in the 3000GT than in my T/A so I get to kill lots of cheap rice too....nice and easy. I tried to race a '94 Z28 once for fun with the Mitsu. but the guy started weaving throug traffic instead of turning on to the freeway like I though he would.......*****

I thought he was trying to be sweet and pass me, since he's kinda a showoff sometimes. I said nuh-uh and floored it when he got to my drivers door. Left him behind pretty quick. Said "thats what I thought."
Mr Police man said "oh no you don't" and pulled us both over. I though, since we were side by side and his car small enough to hide next to me, the cop wanted me to stop. He thought, since he tried to pass me already doing the limit, and was behind me, he was trying to pull him over. We both got tickets, even though I'll bet I coulda kept going. We both walked away with 45 in a 30 zone tickets, I guess I should be thankful. BTW I looked at the sign later and it was 35 not 30, not that it mattered. Ah the stupid things we do in high school, we were both 16 at the time.

All I have to say is...

Does it even matter about my mods? I raced a.. get this.. Ford Festiva with racing stripes and a fart muffler.

Yep.
it's true.

Some dumbass actually put a fart muffler on his Festiva.

And then raced.

My gawd.

A 61 VW vs a 99 Honda Civic Riceburner Special.

A true example of the power of *not* putting decals on your car. My VW has been bored, stroked, and otherwise molested but it's dented, primered, and otherwise ugly. So when the green fart-exhausted Civic pulls up at a light with plenty of decals and no balls to back them up, I take pleasure in making his girlfriend shake her head when I wave from 4 carlengths at 65 mph.

Now I have an IROC and 4 more cylinders to embarass rice with.

Synapsis- how about some more info on that VW? I flipped thru a VW mag and found no information on what modded beetles could do. Also, what engines are usually modded? Diesels? I don't know shinola about old VWs.
Stupid races? Well, I know that none of you think very highly of my LTD, but here goes- just imagine these vehicles against your own. Don't get me wrong, Challenging is not the stupid part. Trying to be a smartass and push a bigger, more powerful vehicle. A friendly race is cool, but I get few of those.
Stupid on other driver's part:
-ancient japanese wagon with oil-spraying fart can
-new ford ranger 4x4 with huge tires
-5 or 6 mini vans
-little ford festiva, i believe
-Isuzu from 65mph, totally killed him, little effort
Stupid on my part:
-2 Corvettes
-90s Trans Am
-70s modified Magnum powered Ram Charger, he probably hit 120
Good races:
-289 Mustang- I won, don't know why
-80s full sized pontiac- same class as my car, but I scored him
-80s caprice
-95 HO Quad 4 Grand Am- 1 and 1 against this guy
-2 moddified 350 chevy trucks- lost both after 1st gear
Sorry for the space. Hope it makes good reading. By the way, the same guy who owned the Quad 4- I raced him countless times with both of us having countless different vehicles. But he got beside me just after midnight- we were both going home from work- he was in his 3 cylinder metro. He didn't want to race me. He told me that he could white smoke the tires. BS, I said. He then floored it and switched it into gear- it was a manual- and smoked the tires. I nearly cried with laughter- not that I could do drastically better. My car's about 2 tons with me in it, tho.

How About A Stupid Car Chase In A Movie

I just saw this old cheap movie called "the Human Factor" with George Kennedy. He's after this guy and he's going to kill him. George is in a VW Beetle and the other guy's on foot. George rolls up beside him and the guy takes off running cause George is out to kill him. George floors it, looks like he switches into 2nd at 5mph. The guy was actually outrunning this thing on foot. I was rolling. Good movie tho and it does have some good chases. I like VWs but some of them are sloooooooow.

My 61 basically has no interior except for 2 Corbeau racing seats, the gearshift, the battery (yes, it's kept inside the car) and the MSD ignition setup. It's got the stock transaxle because it was a strong design to begin with. I've got a 1970 engine case, machined for 90.5mm cylinders (to keep some cylinder wall thickness for cooling), and a 82mm crank making 2110cc displacement. Counterweighted crank, flywheel lightened to 8 lbs, dual 44mm dual throat Weber carbs, CB Performance Competition Eliminator heads ported and polished, and a tuned extractor exhaust. I haven't taken it to the track yet because it won't pass tech due to no seatbelts (they didn't come with the car in 61.)

It takes a quite of bit of modding to get an old VW to run anything below 13.5 because the car is all steel and the windshield is almost a 95 degree angle. If you've been into Bugs for awhile you can tell what kind of power the car makes by the size of the exhaust system underneath it. The engine takes well to nitrous as long as you have the rotating assembly balanced, or else you'll pound the main bearings into the case since the case is made of a magnesium alloy (if I remember correctly.) If you bolt a turbo kit onto a properly set up Bug engine, it'll make around 200 horsepower @ 13psi boost. But unless you open the crankcase, you'll be lucky to pull 90 horsepower out of a stock 1600cc engine with bolt-ons. And pretty much the only air-cooled VW engines to be modded are Bug engines, and some Type 4 engines because they come with more displacement stock.

I have a couple magazine articles of people putting 350 mouse motors in Bugs. It takes place of the back seat but that's one fast little insect.

My stupidest race i was ever in would have to be when i was in my 87 honda accord hatchback that i bought for a 100 bucks. ( I only bought the car because it was a 5 speed). Anyway I was at the lights when a guy in a thirdgen pulls up next to me. It was me who challanged him to a race( for a joke lol). And he laughed at me, and so did i, but we were both wacthing for the light to turn green. He pealed out and I was actually winning until he caught grip and put his car in second put his car into 2nd lol. It was funny as hell, my honda is 3/4 rust. It has 278 953 km's. It is the funniest pile of metel and plastic i have ever seen( I have a hood scoop put on( non functional.)

The most stupid race I've ever had in my life was against a V-6 98 Hunter Green Chevy Blazer owned by my current boyfriend. He knows nothing about cars (he thinks you can fix blown speakers with duct tape!). He thinks just because he beat his friend's 2000 5.0 Mustang he can take on my 'Bird and win. I tried to talk him out of it, really I did. But he persisted. I gave him one last chance to back out- instead he bet me dinner. How could I refuse an offer like that? Free dinner and a royal butt-kicking in one night-- sounded good to me. We got on highway 44 from Lawton going towards OKC. We hit the flat, long stretch after Ft. Sill at the speed limit. I was in the left lane and he was to my right. I could see him gun it. That poor Blazer tried, but it couldn't match it's fellow GM sister in ANY way. I soon beat him by about 5-6 car-lengths before we started to get into traffic. I know that I was doing well over 100 when I lost sight of him. The next night when he bought me dinner-- he blamed his loss on the Rodeo that pulled out in front of him!!

One time i was cruisin in my IROC and a flatbed towtruck with a car on the back revved at me. We raced when the light turned green and he waved as i flew by him. It was a young guy who was bored i guess.

Stupidest race, hmmm..

I was at a stop light when a piss yellow 2000ish V6 Mustang pulled up beside me. The two butt-pirates in the Mustang were looking over at me laughing. Now, i had two girls in the car so i wanted to look cool, so i threw them a couple revs. They got the message and when the light turned green we both took off. I got a good launch and got about 2 car lengths on him, but the next light was red, so i slowed down and stopped, but the pricks in the Rustang ran the light.
@%#*&in' grape-smugglers!!

HEY Synapsis , Is your bug the primer grey one with the megaphone? exhaust tip pointing almost straight up? I don't really know how else to describe it, I've seen that one on Speedway and at the Chevron on I-10 and Wilmont, afew times.

On the topic....My friends 90 civic hatchback with the only "mod" being a COMPLETELY striped interior, (I'm talking like a plastic lawn chair for the drivers seat and thats it!) Really funny race.

3 cylinder subaru justie .... i wouldn't call it a race, more like comedy. IT was a guy i worked with and we hit a light, and he wanted to be a smart ***, knowing he would not have a chance. I think we know the outcome of this. Still funny and dumb

I hate when people have to race even though you don't want to because you know you'll win and dont wanna got semi-WOT for fuel consuption. I had a tercel with two guys in their twenties i guess, yelling out the window liek a bunch of retards. Light went green, they took off, they got a car length in front of me, i shifted into second around 2000-2500 rpms and didn't give more throttle than usual and still went by them. I hate this state, some people or morons on the roads here.

Oh yea, some guy in a jetta was tailgating me bad on the turn pike in the left lane. Im going by the traffic at a descent rate, so when he got the change, took the middle lane and tried to pass me when im already doing 70+. I laughed and opened her up to mess with him as he almost got pass me. He went back behind me again. People in their VW's .. tisk tisk .. lol

this race was stupid because everyone actualy thought the other person would win.... well me and my friends just got out of the Fast and The furious... and u know we needed to race.. so behind our mall there is a nice wide 4 lane hiway. my friend has a 98 silvarado 350 v-8 he put on dual exaust and he thinks hes the $h!t so i took my stock 87 z with 305 and we got to the first light. one of the kids in the truck was talking to me and i missed the light... so the truck took off and then so did i... givin him like 2 sec head start....so i gunned it... tire spinning and then off i went and i got so far that his really really cool HID light just merged in to a single bead.... now he put on a KN FIPK and hes getting a hypertech reprogramer.... he wants more.... so now the mods for my baby are comin.... will post new race in the spring... plus he found out how to stop the govener so now he can keep going.... to lose to me whata a$$h%1& other races include a mx-6, v-6 4th gen (won both) and the stupides race i have ever done is a viper.... a guy with his girl rolled up to me and reved.... so i huomored him and went..... had him for a little bit.... but only for a little bit...
