Car: 1992 Camaro Z28 Anniversary Edition Engine: 305 TPI Transmission: Borg Warner 5-Speed | Court. hahaha I laugh on the legal system. So I walk in for my court appointment at 3 pm. I see about 40 other people in the court room. The judge walks in. Basically I heard the same thing 40 times straight:
Judge: "Please approach the bench mr so and so. Please state your name for the record."
Reply: "I am mr so and so."
Prosecutor/Crown: "Unfortunately the officer could not attend today therefore i have no evidence and i ask the case be thrown out"
Judge: "your case is thrown out, charges are dropped".
Same thing happened to EVERYBODY there! |

Car: 1992 Camaro Z28 Anniversary Edition Engine: 305 TPI Transmission: Borg Warner 5-Speed | I was just laughing my *** off. I met 3 girls there and started talking to them. They were all telling me how they made stories up that they were going to tell to the judge. Like.. one told me for instance "I got a tail-gating charge. I'm just going to tell the judge that some guy cut me off and I didn't want to slam on the brakes because there was somebody behind me". Literally all 3 girls had some story they thought of. Then when they got called off, and the only thing said to them was "officer not here, no evidence, charges dropped" and the judge said "have a nice day", they would keep a seroius face, say thank you, and when they turned their back to the judge you saw them start laughing pretty much and walk out! |

Only reason I went to court is because the guy who gave me the ticket told me to.
When I got there, I felt like an idiot because if they asked "what's your defense" and the cop wasn't there, I'd be like "uh.. duh... cop told me to schedule a court date and he said I wouldn't lose points and my fine would get lowered". But luckily I didn't have to say nothing except for my name! |

Those girls and you can laugh all you want but if the cop showed up and the girls story was bs and the cop knew otherwise who do you think would win? Just because they had a story, doesnt mean it would work. Pretty much every guilty person that pleads innocent (which is a surprising amount) has a story, judges, the crown, cops, they kind of learn to tell which ones are bs and which ones are valid.
If you said what you said above to a judge he would laugh in your face and tack on the court fee...

Car: 85 Monte Carlo SS... Engine: T.P.I L98. Soon to be 406 LT1 powered Transmission: TH350 | Yeah Alex...You got lucky this time! Don't push your luck. Cops love a young punk in a sports car. Slow down and save it for the track before you kill someone, or even yourself. Speed needs to be respected, if not you sooner or later "Crash & Burn!" Don't want to hear you had to learn the hard way. Wheelchairs aren't all what they are cracked up to be. Neither is Jail! Big fellas just love newbies. Bent over just like this little guy :hail:, just not praising. More like screaming. |

| Can't say I have alot of respect for 3 lying bi-aches myself. It's a-holes like this that need to be convicted.
I have no problem with the concept of arguing perspective or witness' details- but when it comes to outright lying- what happened in these people's upbringing? Maybe their parents should have been more involved with child-rearing and not playing golf or what-not.
I hope next time the young ladies have more serious charges to deal with and the officer does decide to make it to court... |

I didn't have any story. The cop told me to book a court date when I got the ticket. If I had to say something, it would be "well, the officer told me to book a courtdate and he'd make sure I lose no points". |

What did you call this thread? Horrific grammer aside, it was a slam at the system. It may not be perfect, most involved are doing everything they can and more to keep us safe.
You were lucky to get off. That's what I think you should take away from this experience, not how disorganized things were in the court. Unless of course you want to do something about it and help out, whether that be by seeking employment in the Legal branch of the gov't or by keeping your butt out of court. |

Everytime someone gets a ticket that warrants a court date, there's 2 hours that day that a police officer isnt' out protecting my street, watching my future kids school, recovering stolen cars, putting away drug dealers near those schools rescuing people trapped in automobile accidents and all the 1000's of other things they do...and heaven forbid at home enjoying the company of his or her family.
It raises my taxes and everyone elses, makes people afraid to walk the streets and leave their cars in underground parking lots, allow their kids to walk to school etc... etc... etc...
And suddenly you and the others in the court are the victims here? It's not funny. It's sad, very sad that this is how things have become. |

let me ask you something, have you ever gone to court? if you had the option between paying your ticket, losing points and in effect your insurance go up, or scheduling a court date and having it thrown out which would u pick?
i was merely saying that i found it humouring how everybody in the courtroom was all scared walking in, and walked out with a big smirk/smile on their face. |

I've managed for 30 years just nicely! | I'm not defending easy here.... but cops are not always right. Sometimes there are actual valid reasons to go to court. I grew up in a small town where the cops were all on a big power trip. It was like playing frickin dukes of hazzard every day.
Since I moved to London I've never had a single problem with the police... but because of my past experiences I still have a hard time looking at them as being there to help me.

Car: 1984 Z/28 Engine: 383 stroker Transmission: T-5 | I'll probably once again regret having opened my mouth on here, but cops and courts can't do a damn thing about demerit points. Those are outlined by the Ministry. Each HTA charge has a demerit point sum assigned to it. The only way to reduce these is either to be found not guilty or to be found guilty of a lesser offence. You probably just got lucky because it's flu season and we shift workers tend to catch every friggin' bug that's going around. Bully for you.
P.S. By definition, DEMERIT points are something you acquire, not something you lose. Ya might wanna bone up a bit for next time in case you don't get so lucky. |

We CAN however avoid getting tickets and going to court and wasting taxpayer's money and all that other stuff by obeying the laws. |

SOme of the cops here are real (&%*&(@^ holes. And some are really great people. I guess that goes with anything though. But some of them just power trip! And that is wrong! I am sure that this is not the case with you Tracey, but... it is with alot of others... Just my 2 cents.
