Speeding Ticket + Update

I got my third speeding ticket in a year, back in July.
This one was 156 in a 100...416 going towards the queensway - actually, all three were in the same stretch of road (Should have learned - now I just stay off).

Anyway, you can't get an 'on the spot reduction' because they want you in court (to possibly suspend your license for 30 days).
So I called XCopper and they said give us $500 bucks and we will get it reduced to 149km and you will have to donate 10 hours of community service (I thought the community service was the dumbest thing I had ever heard). So, with this knowledge, I decided to forego using XCopper. I showed up for my first appearance, but I spoke with the prosecutor before I was called.
She told me to ask for an adjournment and give her a call to discuss. I called for a couple of weeks and all I could do was leave messages.
She finally called me back today. Basically she was grilling me about why I go so fast and what a danger I am to the general public. I tried to explain that in each situation, that was basically what traffic was doing and that I get singled out for the type of car I have (as evidenced by the most recent ticket - where it says 'make' - normally it would say Chevy etc..., but on this ticket it says 'CHEVYCAMZ28'). She didn't believe me and stated that even if that were the case, I am still responsible for my own vehicle - I agreed with that point). Truth be told to you guys, 2 out of the 3 tickets, I was following at least one other vehicle. Oh well. Anyway, I tried to offer her my time (the community service) in exchange for a reduction. She wasn't going for that either. I thought I was screwed. In the end after a bit of discussion she offered me two options:

30 day license suspension - no points, no ticket - but I'd have to go through some driver training at my cost and pay the license reinstatement fee (This sounded quite good - but I could not go without a license for a month - if it were the winter it might be a different story).
Option 2 is that she would reduce the fine to 149km with a $300 fine, 4 points and a promise that I would not show up before her in court again for 365 days, otherwise it will be an immediate suspension.
I agreed to option #2. I kind of like option #1, but #2 gets it all done with and out of the way.

So, NEVER plead guilty right away. There is always an out...
Be as polite as can be, show remorse for your actions and you can probably get yourself a break.
I just feel really good because I did what XCopper was going to do for 500 of my dollars, and I got a better deal.

Yeah, except XCopper does nothing for their money.

I had a friend use them 3 years ago for a "racing" charge. He called up XCopper to represent him. I went along with him to the Newmarket courthouse. My buddy didn't even know who was going to represent him. The XCopper dude shows up 5 minutes before the court appearance and didn't even know what the situation was Dude looked and acted just like "Doc" from back to the Future II. What a shambles!

Needless to say my friend got the worst end of the deal and the other dude who was representing himself got the better end of the bargain.

Is it worth the $500 I say?

I too used one of these "points" and "x-copper" services years ago for a ticket (151km/h in 100 zone) which was also a "show up in court and see if you're suspended" deal.

I paid the service (have the guys card around somewhere- he was a one-man operation at the time) $300.00 and got it reduced to a 40km/h over the limit which was a $300.00 fine, 4 points and nothing else- no BS promises or such. Also- as he was representing me- I didn't have to waste any time going to court or talking to Crown Attorneys.

"Points" were going to be totally useless at the time- all they do is promise something that any idiot could negotiate on their own without paying them $500.00+

I once was caught doing 160 on the linc in hamilton (limit 90) with a G2 license. I went with x-copper and he reduced it from 6 points (reckless driving) to 0 points and a 500 dollar fine. He cost me 300 bucks. But I didn't give a crap about the money. I just didn't want the points on my record. Yes, this was in the iroc, and I was actually slowing down at the time he clocked me. Mean guy too.

Ahhh, memories. My immature college years.

George is a funny guy- he forgets to mention that this is a specialty policy with driving "restrictions" and he must also carry full-time insurance on another vehicle at -whatever- price.

I pay $500.00 on my "specialty car"- same sort of policy- but I live in the sticks now and pay $600.00 a YEAR for my daily driver. You want lower insurance costs:

1) Get out of Southern Ontario
2) Stop getting "idiot" tickets like no insurance card and violating the conditions of learners licenses (call them whatever you want, but "G1" and "G2" are still technically "learners permits".

Amen. I wouldn't even be able to get insurance with a record like that.

Eric, Perth isn't that bad lol. At least it's clean

My insurence is like 430 a month on my Camaro. I have one speeding ticket and 2 collisions. None of which occured while I was driving the Camaro. All my driving records blemishes happen when I was driving my 89 SIerra winter beater. I tell you nothing like paying 5000 a year to cover 1500 in total damages.
