Car: 1989 Pontiac Trans Am GTA Engine: 305 TPI Transmission: T-5 | I bought my first third gen! Let me know what you think! Hey guys,
So it looks like the right deal came along at the right price. I picked myself up a 1989 Trans Am GTA!!
The thing that really got me about this car is how smooth it drove. I've test driven 10 third gens now, and they were all either rickety, felt old, etc...but this car was smooth as silk - no rattles and felt great...like it just came off the assembly line. This car was clearly babied like nuts.
The car has 180k / t-tops / 305 TPI / 5 speed / mint inside and out.
Here are some pics:
So...in conclusion...I am very excited to get my new car, it should be arriving tomorrow...and I'm also excited to see what you think of my new baby!

Car: 1989 Pontiac Trans Am GTA Engine: 305 TPI Transmission: T-5 | Re: I bought my first third gen! Let me know what you think! Sorry for the delay in my reply...I've been dealing with car crap for the last two days, and man it's a pain. The car is sitting in my mechanics lot right now, waiting for a few small things it needs to pass safety. I can't insure it until after I get a safety...but the big bummer is that the insurance company I want to use needs me to send them a paper application by mail, and it takes them 15 days to process.....15 FREAKIN DAYS!! That means its gonna be sitting there, on the lot, for half a month....I'm dying to drive it. I took it around the block a few times last night, but that's little more than a tease haha. Those rear tires are very anxious to break away...the car definately has all its power there...blah...its so depressing thinking about how I can't drive it yet lol...
Besides that, thanks for all your comments I appreciate em. Quote:

I give you 1 week before you start into mods :-) | the repaint is brighter red then the original color. I like this color more, but the downside is that the GTA badges won't match exactly. I haven't decided whether or not to put em back on yet. And yes, the modding will definately start very soon...this car is going to be such a money pit haha. I'm gonna start with interior/audio, then frame stuff, go on to suspension, and then finally drivetrain!! weeee! Quote:

Consider installing a set of Spohn SFCs before the interior/audio stuff. |

Car: 1989 Pontiac Trans Am GTA Engine: 305 TPI Transmission: T-5 | Re: I bought my first third gen! Let me know what you think! haha...well I know the guy did attend some sorta cruise almost every weekend, so its quite possible that its the car. I got the car considerably under his asking price (does that make me a bad person? lol), but I tend to be quite patient and I'm willing to wait for a good deal. I just hope it will pass the e-test...I gotta bring the timing back down to 6 degrees (I think it's sitting at 8 right now) and pray I don't need to do anything major. Anyone know someone who will fudge me an e-test? lol...might come in handy once I start modifying the engine (EGR? who needs that? ).
Got word back on the safety...just needs the front ball joints, front right brake line, and rear brake pads...so that won't be too bad. Besides that, the only thing the car needs to be pretty much perfect (in stock form) is a small A pillar panel (cracked) and a good greasing on a cable inside the seats (doesn't snap back to place).
Now I just need insurance...the wait is killing me...
Does anyone know of any third gen cruises or meets around London?

Let me know what you think! hey... i just looked at your pics again... i`m pretty sure that is the same car i know...... i think the licence plate said something about a viper??? maybe, i think he said it was viper red, did he say anything about going to alberta because he told me the reason he`s selling the car is because he was going to alberta and couldn`t take the car.... because i know that car was his BABY. oh man he kept that car spotless... if it`s the same car i hope you take care of it as well as he did. |

--Mike | Sweet car dude, we know Viper well and the car is very nice and he did baby the car. He came out to the Niagara Falls cruises that we were doing every Sun. last year, but this year we are only going on the long weekends. You should join us sometime as we meet in Grimsby and people from London , Woodstock, Toronto and Scarborough meet for this cruise. It's a bit of drive for you but you will enjoy it. |
