Ecm scanning

Im having an issue with my mechanics scanning tool, engine seems to run fine but yet the scanning tool isnt reading properly.
Has anyone had such a problem, we hook the scanning tool to another ODB1 vehicle and it finds everything no problem.
I have 2 ecms and 2 proms Im trying out, I dont know what else to do.

Re: Ecm scanning

Did you check the wire/circuit from the ECM to the ALDL connector?

Re: Ecm scanning

Seems to be ok from looking at it but I havent really tested it, thats my biggest fear that the harness or wires are pinched or burnt somewhere, its a bitch to figure out.

It's one wire from the ECM to the ALDL..easy check!
It's the one that you ground out at the ALDL to get the check engine light to flash codes. I think it's tan colour.

Re: Ecm scanning

The car doesnt run good though, when throttled at around the 4000rpm it starts to fart and shoots to 5300 rpm then shifts but in the next gear it seems it shifted to early because the lack of power and low rpm.
At idle its fine, its only when throttle it acts up at higher rpm, still the ecm does not give proper readings, ALDL connector looks fine.

Re: Ecm scanning

Mine did something like that about 10yrs ago, was a plugged cat.
It shifted weak and would fall on its face, and felt sluggish at higher rpms. The TPI's like to puke ignition modules if they don't have good heat sink compund under them as well..just some wild guesses here!
