T5 swap is done

So the T5 swap kit I bought off DAZ turned out to be pretty solid. I pounded it (after putting a few miles on the clutch) pretty hard I figured I ought to know RIGHT NOW if the tranny was any good.

I side stepped the clutch a couple of times at 5500 rpms. Happy to report all is well in borg warner land. The setup works really well.

The car is really coming around. Its a hardtop '90 5.7 used to be an auto but I had a love/hate thing with that tranny. So it had to go.

suspension is done, poly everything, tubular all over the place, eibachs and adjustable corners.

C4 HD brakes up front (not complete working on it this weekend) and those bad *** rotors out back the car will stop pretty good when done.

some resto stuff but not much -- I got the car with 90kms on it it was a garage queen.

power mods, crank 301hp and 398 lbs tq last trip to the dyno. If my conversion was 28% with the auto what is it with a T5? Theoretically should gain some there.

still have to do some exhaust work, new collectors and cats.

I thought I'd build a 383 next year and finish with this emissions BS.

anyway, the old IROC is really coming around.

Re: T5 swap is done

I think I am ok for the reservoir. Haven't poped any leaks yet.

Yah banging the clutch like that with the torque that this thing puts down is abit risky. But I if its going to break I wanted it to happen near home and not out on the road somewhere.

The speedo is reading high so the tranny must have sit in front of 3.08s cause I have a 3.23. Any idea what color gear to get for the VSS? Or if I put 3.42s in the rear what color VSS gear then? Seems to me the 3.23s don't do this setup justice.

Just did some windy roads out in the boonies west of here. I forgot just how much much these cars can be with some tq, some traciton and and a stick.

Re: T5 swap is done

Did you buy an entire kit? From auto to the T5 I mean? If so where'd you get it from? I am interested in a T5 swap too.
