OTTAWA'S FASTEST STREET CAR CHALLENGE is at Luskville on Saturday July 12th. It starts at 12 and runs until 6pm at which time the cruise night starts for the evening (run your car on the track).
I'm trying to arrange a little event where we can gather in Ottawa and cruise up to catch some of the races, then hang around to get a few runs in during the evening.
Meeting place changed to the Sears/Green & Ross at Carling and Woodroffe at the Woodroffe entrance area.
I heard they finally paved the gravel road into the track as well..
My freind lives in Chelsea, so we normally all meet up at his house and go from there. Its a "back roads" route with no traffic and a limit of 70 i beleive. All the roads from his house are one lane winding "mountanous" roads. VERY VERY fun to drive on. Just watch out for the bumps.
To take that route, you head towards Quebec over the 5, exit at the "Casino Exit", turn left at the lights onto Boulvard de St. Raymond. Continue down for a couple minutes, and turn right on Chemin Pink, then take the next right onto Chemin de la Montagne N.
Mountain (Montagne) Road is the fun windy one, take it all the way to the end. When you reach a T-Junction (NOT A "V"), AKA: end of the road, turn right onto the 148 (Eardley), and the next left down a hill is the Luskville Road.
Good point Dave..

From the city I usually just cross at Champlain bridge, then take the 148 along the river.
(Actually I really take the ferry at Qyon from my place) We took the back route on a cruise once and it got complicated, especially if you loose someone...
So what's the plan for the trophy, fastest ET, or bracket style like last time?
Bracket seems more fair to everyone (even Dave..hahaha)!
I'll might as well step aside from the trophy goings then. lol
This is all about test/tune and lowest ET I can muster. I suck at bracket racing anyways. I always tend to jump when the other light goes before mine.haha
My car is in for paint that weekend. My buddy's 69 cutlass is almost ready to be on the road (it needed some frame work which took forever) but he doesnt know when he can take time off work to get it safetied, and my bro's grand prix isnt on the road yet, cuz our insurance broker agent is a moron. Those are the only three cars that would be competitive.
Also im not fond of the $50 entry fee.....
However, i have alot of cruising time to make up for after paint, so ill be making it out to the cruisenights at luskville and the car shows after this week hopefully.
We weren't planning to race in the Street car shoot out...just the $20 per carload cruise night (run as little or often as you want, after the real racing is over ). As far as the "competition" it's a trophy from the Ottawa F-body club based on whatever paramater we choose... ie; best ET, or bracket...last time I think it was some formula for consistency/efficiency based on 3-4 runs...strictly for fun. John or Hylton can verify how they did it.
Well in that case i might come down if one of our cars is on the road. But my F-body wont make it. Play it by ear i guess. But theres plenty of cruise nights coming up, so if theres only two guys who can make it, maybe we can postpone it.
Theres quite a few 3rd gens that make it out to most of the shows, i dont know if any of you guys own them though.
Theres the regular 3 camaros i see all the time, 2 reds and one white. One of the owner's is fairly senior, but he seems to have good taste in mods.
There was a new one i saw two weeks ago at the annual princess auto show, It was a red 90-92 Formula, with a 350 TPI, and a TKO transmission. Ram air, etc...
I'll still be going..it would be nice to get a few other cars out though!
I don't get a lot of chances to get to the track and I'm curious to see what the car will do with the new goodies.
Dave, your car on the road yet?
Scott, any word on the oil issue?
Yeah, car is out and on the road. I'm not sure if I'll make it on Saturday though. It hasn't been on more than a 5 min jaunt down the road so far. Paul and I may hit the Kemptville cruise night this Friday. I haven't seen him in a while. That'll be it's test run I guess. You guys should tour down as well.
I'd love to beat on it, I just want to get a feel for how it runs for a little while first. God knows i don't ever want to try and get a broken car towed home from Luskville ever again.
The kemptville cruise on Friday is at the Foodbasic parking lot across from the Kemptville mall. I'm not sure when it starts. probably sometime after 7:00pm or so.
Too bad, I was hoping to see you flog that beast!
Where is the cruise in KTown..at the Cantrash? What time you guys get there?
Online170, I'll be in the red IROC with no decals running 10's..haha
Well my painting got canceled, cuz the freind who was gonna do it isnt available. So ill look for your car.
AS for the towing your car home, yea it doesnt sound like fun. My bird died at the end of the strip last time i went. I crossed the line at 97mph in 3rd, instead of 4th like the run before (also at 97mph) thinking i could push it a lil more in its power band. It revved to 7000rpm (highest ive ever had it) and it died at the end, and wouldnt start. Very crappy feeling. My choke decided to close and i found this out later, but still not fun. I might also go to the kemptville show.
Well, looks like I may not have the bird there after all...the wife's not coming over till Sunday morning...swamped with school work this wkd! Anyhow, we may run down the road sat evening to watch but it would be fun to get a bunch of cars together soon.
I need to switch carbs to run but it's only a 1 hr job...
Neil, maybe we should post the coming dates for cruise nights at Luskville and get a date that at least a bunch of us can attend.
Wow it's getting harder to get people together! so many things happening/going on.
Ill be tuning my freind's cutlass and fixing his seized rear brakes so he can run at the cruisenight tommorow. I wont be goin to the Ktown cruise night. I beleive its at the foodbasic though.
I drove down to the cruise night. Not alot of cars, but some nice ones. They had a new Challenger there as well as a new GT500. They're pretty nice looking in a Matchbox/Hot Wheels sort of way, but there is no way I'd pay that kind of money for either. I'd buy a C5 Z06.
There was a nice Iroc there, very clean car. Vanity plates said "F Body", anybody know this car?
I was at luskville breifly tonight, i think i saw Neil? run his iroc. Very very nice car. Fast too. I was surprised to see how clean it looks.
Atleast some people were brave enough to run.
I was with my freind and my bro (we were the 69 black cutlass, and the blue 83 grand prix with bush bar) next to the time slip hut. Both cars are very "squirmy" off the line even on dry pavement, and we didnt want to run if we couldnt run all out.
Plus we didnt pay to get in, so it wasnt a big deal .
It sure was PACKED to the brim though, anybody else make it out?
Yeh it ended up rainin there last night. Neil I was the one that came over and asked you what you were runnin for a motor. Names Matt by the way guys. Neil told me about the Ontario board on here last night when I was talking to'em.
Why do you say that, was it raining there last night?
There was a bit of sprinkle, lasted about 5 minutes, but it was enough to create puddles everywhere. So the regular event (originally planned to end at 6pm in time for the cruise night) was delayed and delayed and delayed.
The used the blowers and even swept the track to dry off as much as possible, and ran down some street cars to clean it up for the semi and superpros.
The track seemed to dry up quite a bit, but there were still some puddles on the side.
I left at about 8:30 so i dont know if it rained again at Luskville, but it was raining quite a bit at my house in Gloucester.
Matt, which car were you running? The only other thirdgen i saw was a black berlinetta, with HUGE slicks.
Hey thanks Azeem, I remember seeing that Cutlass with the push bars..
Ya, the track was not so good as usual, especially with the wet and all the puddles in the staging lanes.
I could not believe the number of people drinking there..even the drivers. I felt out of place without a beer and a *****! It'll be a long time before I head back up there to race, I'd rather make the haul to Shannonville or Montreal. I stuck around until about 9:30, it poured all the way home.
LOL sounds like you guys have so much fun, i know like noone around here with a third gen, i was talking to a guy once with a wicked orange Camaro Z28, i think it was an 85.
but man wish my car got better gas milage, i`d love to drive to ottawa and watch you guys run, nice lil road trip, i doubt i`d run my car, it has a weak tranny, it`d suck to blow it up that far from home i`d be so screwed.
I used to get over 550kms to the tank on the hwy with the stock LT1/6speed with 3.23 gears. It's a little more thirsty now, but it gets driven pretty hard when it's out. I made it back from Luskville with 3/4 of a tank in it still!
I wasnt runnin my car. Unfortunately I just had the g/f's Cavalier there. My car was in the shop gettin an exhaust system done. My cars no good for racing yet anyways. Still only got the stock 305 in it for now. Hopein to save up and drop something in it for next summer. Right only thing on it now is the exhaust system and I have the 18inch Iroc Replica rims.
