ok, so who's planning on making it next year? i might actually be able to make it. I'll have to do some different things to the car and trailer it. California to Ill. will be just a little too far to drive. If i do come i'll bring some jack stands and mirrors to show off the undercarriage. it's a possible for me to come back.

I think there's a good chance we could have our best turnout ever next year. Having the website up and advertising here on TGO has really generated a lot of interest in Thirdgen Fest.

AWESOME!! DO IT!!! Your car was nice last time when it wasn't even completely put together so I can only imagine the mind blowing awesomeness you have planned for 2010!

Does this mean people may have to park on the street? If that's the case... where will people do burnouts?!?

I'll hopefully have a lot more parts on my car by then. I'm still toying with the idea of a custom harness bar. Maybe it will be my winter project.

Since i just got my 3rd gen this year i haven't been to any shows but I might have to get some of my local 3rd gen buddies together and make the trip next year.
i am all in on this! I might not have the best looking Camaro but damn it, I love my car! Plus it would be nice to meet some of the people I talk to on here as well as any third gen enthusiasts. This sound amazing. It would also be my first car show most likely so im in!

My car is still on the trailer from that day, I too look at the videos of the last time I drove it (thanks to all who put it on youtube)... I took off racing this year for monentary purposes... It looks like I will make some changes over the winter so I can run it on motor next year (9.60s are still pretty quick)...
On a good note I have been driving my 84 Z for the last week... It is a pooch, but it has a nice growl to it... I have a 350 going into it for next year (heck I want it to be at least as fast as the old ladys GXP)...
No baby yet, but it appears that it will be here by next week! (yeah, I know today is Friday)...
BTW- Thanks for all you do for the country and watch you *** over there.
im fricking go this time. my car has some parts on it denny sold me so i feel its only right that they go back to where they came,so to speak. my real question is what "days" is the show. its memorial weekend which is a huge getaway/fishing weekend for me. is the car show/judging on fri or sat?
Friday is just the party... not many people were there last year probably because of what the weather looked like. Fortunately it never did rain. Pretty much everything happens Saturday.
Congratulations to GMCRACER! Will George Michael Carey V be there next year?
im going to make a big effort to go this year, i should be back home in the burbs from school in Florida by then. last year me and my buddy were going to go, but missed it. he sold his third gen now though, so ill have to drag him along in mine.

Make him sit in back for selling his third gen.

Where does this take place? I know the location on a map but I mean it looks like it's in someone's side yard or something. Is a park used? A store parking lot? Someone's house?
Also, about how many cars end up there?
Do only owners end up there or do local people come around looking?
We host the event every year at our house. We've got room for at least 125 cars so space isn't a problem. Thirdgen Fest '09 was our eighth year and we've had as many as 75 cars attend. It's basically just the owners who attend. We give trophies in nine categories:
Best Camaro: Stock
Best Camaro: Modified
Best Firebird: Stock
Best Firebird: Modified
Best Interior
Best Engine
Best Paint
Best Restoration
Best of Show
However, we consider this more of an "event" than a "show" because we get cars in just about any condition you imagine so you don't have to have a really nice car to attend.
All the information for Thirdgen Fest 2010 will be post in a sticky here soon.
I hope I can make it. I go to National Gatherings for the V8 RX-7s and Stealth/3000GT clubs each summer and they are a blast. Now that I have a Third Gen in the collection I gotta come to this, especially since its not too far away.
I'm interested in this event, I too would have to trailer mine up there all the way from Arizona. My small fuel cell won't get me far, I'm looking foward in checking out some other third gens........Frank
Denny, if the above is not the case, let me know the exact date so I can update the forum subtitle/description.
Thanks.
Yes, the date is fine. It's going to be held on May 29th, 2010. It's always the Saturday before Memorial Day. I normally don't put up the big information post until early in the year but it seems we're getting a lot of new interest in it already so I'm planning on getting a Thirdgen Fest 2010 post up soon.
Ill be there for sure, hopefully my car will be painted by then and knowing how I am, prob will have a different engine in it by then, although I keep saying Im keeping the 6 cyl in it.
im in for sure and i hope theres a good turn out with the eye candy. chicks and hot carson a summer day in the heartland..could you ask for more? denny i assume you got the coin for them parts,my partner should be calling you this weekend or next week to stop by. he lives down the road from you ,hope thats ok
Is this the kind of show where the less beautiful cars aren't noticed or is it a true enthusiast meet?
I'd make the 5 hour drive from Columbus if it is (on 4 wheels, not a trailer )
any fees?
We consider Thirdgen Fest more of an "event" than a "show" because there are cars in all types of conditions and project cars or daily drivers fit right in. There is a $35 admission fee per car (the number of people in the car doean't matter) which includes all you can eat and drink for the day along with entry into the raffle.
We will be posting all the Thirdgen Fest '10 info here soon.
Thanks!
But we actually camp, boat, fish, etc. Its about about a 3 hour drive West at the Mississippi Palisades State Park. Its a cheap but fun vacation. Although we have been talking about going around the 4th of July the last couple of years. So like I said its still eariler to tell. Another cool thing about going out there is Cordova Dragway is out there. We try to see at lest one day of the races. We usually get the V.P seats which you are so close to the track you get pelted by the rubber flinging off the tires.
Its awsome!!! LOL
I would like to get in on this, most of the guys from around here go to atlanta but I wanna do something different. Can somebody hook me up with some info ? I live in NC and I would drive m ycar up, no point to trailer it.....
