SLP runner gaskets

As you know the gaskets that come with the runners need to be trimmed. What is the best way to trim the gaskets? I have a set of Fel-pro gaskets that require less trimming. Are they as good as the ones that come from SLP? That metel inside the gasket is hard to cut. I tried to use a X-ACTO knife but no way. How about grinding it?

Thanks
