Fuel inlet restrictor

Guys I cant seem to get my car inpsected, this time they told me that I dont have a Fuel inlet restrictor (FIR). Which he showed me is the little metal door between the gas tank and the gas cap. It doesn't really make sense that it doesn't have one. I'm told from my mechanic that I need to drop the tank and put a new neck on. Is there any sort of adapter or any other way to doing it.

Wow, that sucks. I can't really think of any way of doing it without dropping the tank though, which is just insane. Maybe try another inspection stationa nd see if they don't notice it.

Thats a pretty lame thing to pick on, it used to be that the leaded gas pumps had a different size nozzle and wouldnt fit in the tank. That didnt last long. Stupid stupid stupid.

There are places that used to sell a press in deal that had the little door on it. I havent seen any lately, but I havent looked either. Look around, maybe you can find one. It just presses into the filler neck and would solve your problem. Just make sure it lines up right with whats in there now.

Well I'm going to take it to another place tommarrow and see what they say. Hopefully they wont really notice, I got a price on the neck and it was $35, but dropping the freekin tanks going to be a BI tch. Cause I would have to take off the exhaust also. I'll see what happens. If anybody can find one of the adapters anywhere give me a email at maverick544@yahoo.com or pm me.
