Yet another Holley Stealth Ram Question :)

I know the last thing people want to read is antoher stealth ram question, but this is not something that I have seen covered yet. Ive read all about on this and other boards and I want to order one. The problem is that I live in California, and this thing is not smog legal here. I was going to get one and just swap intakes for smog checks, but the fuel lines have me a little nervous. If I put stealth ram fuel lines in, how hard would it be to switch back to the stock ones? If I have to Maybe I can make some lines out of flexible line that I can use for either one, or have a fitting so that I can snap different ones on. Has anyone done anything like this? I was also wondering how many vacuum lines would have to be swapped back and forth. I am hoping other people have some procedure for swapping back and forth for smog checks so that I can get some ideas.
Thanks,
Mike

i'm planning on doing the same thing up here in portland, OR. this is what I did. I had a plumbing and fitting shop custom make my lines. He took the stock male fuel lines, cut off the end fittings, and welded them onto some stainless steel braided hose. All i have to do to pass emissions is buy some $.50 adapters to make it fit to the stock fuel rail. There are 4 vacuum fittings on the back, one for the brakes, one for the fuel pressure regulator, one for the MAP sensor, and one for some stuff that i don't know what it goes ti(purge canister?). I figure to swap the TPI back on it would take about 3 hours... it only takes me 40-45 minutes to take the whole stealthram apart!

Another thing you could consider is making your own EGR. All you would have to do is drill a hole onto the intake flange of the stealthram, get a pipe fitted in there, and get an external egr... i'm also thinking about doing this, it would probably take just as long as swaping the intake manifold twice.

Thanks for the reply. How much did the shop charge you to do the work? Do you have any pictures? I dont think 3 hours is to bad for a twice a year swap. I thought about plumbing my own egr for it, but around here they do a visual inspection and they will fail you if its not the original egr valve and it doesnt have a carb/eo number. It sucks to live in california and like cars. Now if only holley will make a stealth ram for 87 and up heads with an egr valve....

Running an external EGR is pretty pointless. It still isn't going to pass a visual since it's a completely non-stock and non-EO numbered mod. And it isn't needed to pass the sniffer if thats your only worry.

Not that EGR is all bad, just i wouldn't trouble myself just to add it back to an intake.
