I am in the process of converting from TBI to TPI. I have a limited amount of space in my garage to work. My plans were to drop the tank and put in the tpi pump then turn the car around and do the work to the engine that I had planned. (driveway is too steep to push it out and in).

Do you think that it would be ok for the short amount of time that I will be running the car to do this? Will the extra pressure just be bypassed by the fuel regulator?

TBI regulators work with a MAX pressure of 13 PSI stock and a TPI pump is designed to work in the 35-45 PSI range. I don't think anybody has done it before to actually find out, but I don't think it would work. Thats probably too much pressure for that regulator. Of course, your swapping it out anyhow right afterwards, right? You could be our test mule to find out what really would happen

I think it was S&P that I had asked this question to and they said it wont hurt a thing to run it like that.

back from the dead.

Just to let others know the tbi engine ran fine with the tpi hi flow walbro fuel pump.

I did not run it a ton, however it worked fine. Now the engine is out and the tpi conversion is in progress.
