need help putting in egr solenoid

I had the motor rebuilt in the car and they forgot to put back on the egr solenoid. I found the solenoid and ive found the electrical connector on the wirring harness but i cant find the vacuum lines that run to it ,dont they run from the fire wall somewhere and connect to the solenoid and then from the solenoid to the egr valve and to the vacuum connector at the very front bottom of the plenum. this is a 1987 transam with 5.7ltr 350

Not 100% sure on the '87, but on my '88 it was fed vacuum from a fitting on the underside of the throttle body (driver side) and a hard plastic line that fed EGR and some other thingies mine no longer has.

Check the underside of your throttle body driver side for the fitting, if it's capped just fab up a tube to get it back to the EGR solenoid, then from there to the EGR valve itself. You can buy the rubber elbows and hard plastic tubing at Advance Auto and probably other stores.

Just go drop $20 on a chilton's. They have the vaccuum diagrams plus lots of other stuff you will eventually need...

i know the two outlet vacuum hoses go one to the egr and the other to the front bottom of the plenum but what im looking for is the vacuum line that runs to the back of the solenoid, where does it come from?

Re: need help putting in egr solenoid

i was wondering the same thing i have the one going to the egr valve and the other going to the front underside of the plenum but then i cant figure out what goes into the back of it, it looks like a vacuum line hooks up to it. so then your saying nothing hooks up to the back of it just leave it the way it is ?
