rich exaust problem
i just swapt a crossfire injection with a 350 4bolt main, 2000 model vortec heads, ported slp runners, 22lb injectors,I have 42psi of fuel presser, i instauled wire harness, connected all censers except the o2 censer and I'm useing the 305 computer to get it running, my question is would the o2 not being conected and the fact that I haven't received my 350 computer to instaul it would these two items make the car run extreamly RICH?
yes the engine has a mild cam as well.
Can anyone help with this problem?

Is this a crossfire system or you replaced a crossfire with TPI? If it is crossfire, isn't 42 psi way too high for it? I don't know much about CFI, but basically it is just a dual TBI system and the TBI's run at like 12-14 PSI.

I have a 350 4 bolt main block with 2000 model vortec heads and TPI set up from a 86 trans am..I have slp runners which have been ported...it has a hot cam....The car had a crossfire injection that was taken out (harness and all) and instauled the TPI harness, does this help?

Check for leaking injector('S), especially the cold start injector. Does it idle well? What chip are you currently running in the computer. You mentioned getting a "350" computer, the computer has nothing to do with engine size, the 165 ECM was used on 4 bangers all the way through 350's, it is the chip that makes the difference. Post the 4 letter code found on the silver sticker on the prom chip.

rich problem
well guys I think I solved the problem.....The harness I instauled had an extra pig tail for another control box for the mas air flow, I did not see it when I instauled the harness, I plugged the control box on the harness and it quit smoking but I probably will still need a chip to compensate for the cam I have, Thanks for the help and insites

I can't believe that the 165 ECM is working with that harness unless it was already repinned for it.

That is why I could not figure out the rich problem, I have done this several times, I just did not catch that pig tail on instaulation which caused it to run rich with both ecm's, I put that 305 ecm back on and the car runs great, but I'm trying to find a 350 chip for that 85 ecm, I bought it off ebay as a 86 harness and ecm. with all the sensors and I'm glad I foud that mas module or I probably would have scrapped the whole project, now that know what when wrong I may just buy another harness and computer, thanks for all your responces and help from all of you Gents.

Since you already have spent the money on the harness and now know the harness is in working order and have it installed you may want to look into this http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~davis/z28/ecm_swap/ Just a few repins and splices and you'll be able to use the 165 ECM with it. The only 350 chip for the 870 application is from the 85 Vette.
