vacuum check
ive looked all over but i cant find an answer how do i check engine vacuum in my 89 tpi 350?

When you say engine vacuum, could you be a little more specific as to the areas you would like to check.

Look on the pass side and you'll see a brreather tube from the plenum to the valve cover....the plenum vacuum should be sufficient for what you want.

i dont know if i have a leak somewhere i was just curious on how to check my total vaccum. dont they have guages for this or they doent work on a tpi. ive just heard of people saying there vaccum is like so much per squae inch. whats this all about?

You can check vacuum from many sources, the FPR port, brake booster port, or PVC. The vacuum gauge will give you a reading in psi, should be around 18psi on a stock engine. It is tested at idle.

Engine vacuum is measured in...vacuum, not pressure...most gauges read in inches of Mercury, i/e in/Hg, psi is a pressure rating.

Haha, yea, Mike is definately right, I dunno wtf I was thinking. Boost is measured in pressure.
