Considering changing my cam from the zz3 to either one of two cams. First, I have a tpi system with slp runners, ported plentum and base. 24lb hr injectors, crane hi 6s box, afr 190's, compression is 9.3/1. I also have a blower but is needing a rebuild. I acutally want to rid myself of the blower (paxtacrap).
The Lt4 hot cam;
@ .050 218/228 on 112 lca .492/.492 lift (1.5 rockers)
ORpart number
12370845
@ .050 241/224 on 112 lca .488/.509 lift.
I like the profile of the second cam since it is very similar to the compu cam 2032, but one thing concerns me. at the end of the description of part no.12370845 it says this; . Contains eccentric for mechanical fuel pump. Off-road use only, not CARB approved for street use. Not designed for use with computer controlled engines.
Has anyone used this cam? My reservations of the lt4 hot cam is becasue the cam was for the lt 1/lt4 intake. I have the tpi intake system and think the latter choice is a better one since It is in the tpi rpm range. And the hot cam, you must tap in the dowel .030??? What's that all about?

Bet that 241 is supposed to be 214...
You're heads and intake flow well enough to work with either cam as long as you don't mind working up your own custom PROM.
GM's disclaimer basically means they make no representation about emissions legality or computer compatibility since they're not supplying a PROM with the cam. It CAN be done, but they're not going to help.
The business about the dowel pin has to do with the differences between the LT-1 and L-98 application. The LT-1 needs the longer dowel pin. GM didn't want to release a unique part with a shorter dowel pin for the L-98 so they tell you to just tap it in a little further.

What was the part number for your copy of the zz-9? That is the cam I would really like, kind of a cross between the two. And where did you purchase it from?
raiden, ill have to get you the address and phone #.....i called them and gave them all the specs on the zz-9 cam and and they made a exact duplicate, and i had it in 5 days to the door......you will have to specify to them if you want a bronze , cast or what ever the distributor gear you have or are going to use. i wanted this cam but there was no way i was going to pay tpis $375.00 for it. my car pulls its guts out with this cam.....you will like it .....ill find the information you need and get back to you.....thanks

I'm actually considering using the LPE 211/219 cam and the zz9. Are the cams from this co. reground? I am currelty using a "re ground" cam adn I think the duration is off on two cylinders. A friend of mine who writes articles for hot rod said that the re ground cams where I purchased mine from are notorious for grinding cams out of synch. He advised me to go with the LPE cam. So is your cam a reground or custom ground?
