Car: 1987 Trans Am GTA Engine: 357ci Stealth Ram - Under Pressure Transmission: Built 700r4/Pro Yank 3400 Extreme Axle/Gears: 9-Bolt 3.27 | Rough Idle/Surge/3 second start? Hey
I recently bought a 87 GTA L98. A week later, the ****ty accell wires burnt up on the headers - and they had heat sleeving over them.
They are edelbrock headers, which the air tubes are in the way of routing the wires. The Car has no air system, so I cut the tubes off the headers and welded them.
I also replaced Cap, Rotor, and the wires with MSD Super conductors.
The major misfire is gone. There is a slight misfire and 50rpm - 100rpm surge. The car vibrates when you bring the idle up to say - 2000rpm.
I can not feel the misfire under load.
Also, the car takes about 3 seconds to start, which I beleive is related to this issue.
I was testing the spark from the coil pack and it was good. After I pluged the coil wire back in, I noticed the car started up right away. Switched it off, then tried to start it and it took the usual 3 seconds.
Tried it again, looks like getting fuel into the cylinders makes it start up instantly.
Ideas?
FPR?
Injectors?
Pump?
I replaced the fuel filter a few days ago. | | |
