Some people have reported getting a code, but many do not, and it's harmless anyway. Generally performance improves without EGR. The removal increases ease of tuning and troubleshooting.

Only proper way to disable EGR is to block it off and also turn it off in the code.

More details for the code end on the DIY PROM board.

Just blocking it off, stops the exhaust gas from entering the engine, but the routines still run in the computer, such as lenaing it out slightly and advancing the timing when egr is still active in the ecm/code end.
