I was just curious if anyone here has used TPIParts.com to get a PROM burned? IF so, what were your experiences with them? Good bad or indifferent? Please PM me as I dont want this posted on here as it may be a conflict of interest with the sponsorship and with advertising on a forum in general...I just need some input for personal reasons. I havnt used them to burn a prom but I have used them for my TBI to TPI conversion harness and brought a stock prom with many other parts. They were very helpful and I would recomend them. They did excellent work on the harness looks like a factory conversion.

Yep, all my dealings with them have been quite pleasing as well. Getting more parts from them next week as well.

As far as getting a custom prom - in general - you can just about count on having to take the next step and get into prom burning your self. It is extremely difficult for anyone to do a custom prom remotely, especially if you have lots of mods. To get it "right" you have to go thru many iterations of burn a prom, data log it, make changes and burn another one, data log it, make changes and burn another one, etc.

Some folks are never satisfied and have been trying to get it "right" for months and years (like me). Of course, "right" is a relative term. I've seen lots of custom chips that get you in the neighborhood on your basic tune so it's driveable, etc., but the best performance will only come with the many iterations do-it-yourself tuning method, IMO.

Just my on the matter, YMMV.

I never heard of tpiparts.com but i do know of tpi parts.net, and i order from them often. GREAT SERVICE, and LIGHTING FAST SHIPPING. I highly recommend them.

Just had them reprogram a PROM for me. Quick turn around and even caught my mess up and called me to discuss it. Definitely went out of his way to make sure i was happy.

Thanks for the replies so far. I just wanted some outside opinions. I think I have an ecm issue but I had gotten my PROM burned by them for my specific set-up and just wanted to make sure they were not known for PROM burn issues. Everything seemed good with the PROM and the service. I just didnt want to buy an ecm and have it be the PROM burned faulty or something. Im in the process of getting an ecm/PROM to interchange parts to see which part is at fault here. Thanks again for the info everyone.

I've got a '91 Z28 5.7 TPI out in Southern CA (land of CARB legal hassles) and I've dealt with Angel at TPIparts in Miami a number of times. In my opinion he's incredibly fair, honest and helpful when it comes to parts for my car. Oh yeah, by the way, at the time of this writing my Z28 has over 165,000 miles on it...the motor appears to still be strong as well as the 700R transmission. I hope that I'm not hexing the thing with this thread though.
