Old Style SLP runner performance?

Hey everyone, I just bought a set of old style SLP runners for my black 91 GTA. I'm going to install the SLP performance package like the one I have on my gunmetal 91. However, I was able to get my hands on the old style SLP runners with each side having one pair of runners fully siamesed all the way down. Are these runners a better design than the newer ones? I had a set of the new SLP runners on my gunmetal GTA and really didn't like them all that much because the casting on the inside looked really nasty and I had to do a lot of work to them to get them to at least make an improvement.

Why did SLP originally design their runners like this? Thanks in advance.

Far as I'm concerned they are the best that SLP put out. Like you I'm not overly impressed with the latest style of SLP runner. IMHO they need work out of the box but have a lot of potential.

The first style is what I'm running on my car and I siamesed the other side pretty much all they way save maybe 2" that I could not get to. Dyno numbers and times in my signature. TPI rules.
