Air Box V-8 versus V-6

Can someone tell me if there is a difference of any signifigance in airflow between the air box on an 89 V-6 TPI car, and an 89 V-8 TPI car...I got an airbox off of a V-6, and am hoping to use it on my 305 V-8 motor...Does anyone see any problem here???? They look the same to me, i just hope I didnt waste my money...I am talking the Airbox, and only the Airbox, no related components...I know there are differences in the rest of the system, this is not going to be used in a TPI situation...Thanks for any help you may provide...Tom

It's Identical, on my 88 350 I'm using the V-6 air box which has a sensor bung to remote mount the Manifold Air Temperature sensor (MAT.)

My 91 V6 used the same air filter "can" as a V8 TPI Firebird would (not a TPI Camaro which used a dual flat panel system in front of the radiator) with only minor differences. The fitting for the IAT sensor is one difference.

The other, and this is a guess, is the V6 cars had a very skinny plastic "nose" riveted on at the inlet of the filter can. You probably couldn't fit a quarter through it. Very restrictive, only there to reduce noise (my V6 had greatly increased intake roar at WOT when I removed it). I don't think the V8 cars have this same nose on them. Anyway, very easy to drill out the rivets and remove it.
