Throttle Body Bypass Problem

I have read the sticky's and see how to do a coolant bypass on the TPI throttle body. My 1985 IROC-Z is stone stock with all accs. There is simply not enough room to feed the coolant return to the intake manifold connection. In that area of the engine is the IAC and it's connection wires, the MAF connection wires, and the alternator mounting bracket. I feel I can remove the alternator bracket and do some grinding on it to make a passage for the return line or I can route it around the front of the alternator bracket, but that would put the coolant line too close to the upper belt pulley. Any suggestions? Does the later models route the coolant a different way? Thanks, Badman

Bend a clothes hanger in the shape you want to route it, than take it to your local parts store. Mine looks factory!

Measure the fittings and go hunting for a correctly shaped hose.

Might take a few minutes but you will find many that would work.

I did the same thing.

Found a hose that worked but still had to grind on the alt. bracket. The 1985 alt. bracket has a boss to the first runner bolt on the manifold. With all the wiring going under the alt. and hooking up to the various sensors(5) it leaves hardly any room for anything else.By removing most of the bracket that goes to the runner bolt there is now enough room to run the heater return without it rubbing on anything. I'll do a photo of the mod. as soon as I finish other work. Also, since I am new to all this, can you direct me or link me to show how to put a photo on these post. Thanks, Badman
