aluminum Vette heads VS vortec?

I am fixin to start buying parts for my engine. im looking to get around 300hp out of it. Nothing major I just wanna be able to stick right with a Ls1 car.
I am looking at the aluminum TPI vette heads and the Vortec heads.

Can anyone tell me what the differances are? mainly witch one will give me more power.

I will probly eng up running a Lt1 intake.

300 hp will not stick with an LS1 with a few mods. It is said an LS1 with full exhaust can run 12's.

However, vortec's will out flow the aluminum TPI heads.

my stock LS1 m6 went 13.28 with a flowmaster muffler. this was with a crappy 2.20 60'. 12's would be no prob with drag radials.

vortec heads are better.

350 to the wheels can get you 12's, just keep in mind that LS1's tke literally nothing to get low 12's. Throw in a full exhaust, a cam with a tune and you will need to get deeper pockets.

Re: aluminum Vette heads VS vortec?

if you want LT1 intake u cant run vortecs.... thats the only downfall of the vortec heads... there is no good intakes for them except for the HSR.

the vortec heads will make more power over the L98 heads, even tho the L98 heads raise compression some. but both are capable of making 350hp in the right combination

Converted LT1 intake and nice cam to match with Aluminum L98 vette heads will easily make around 320-350 hp and run with a LS1 car. you can do that for fairly cheap too.

http://www.firstfuelinjection.com/

any vortec carb intake can be converted for what a HSR cost also.
SDP vortec lower intake, AS&M runners

You have a few diff. options. Some cost alot more then a HSR. but Id say theyare worth it to run the vortec heads. Then again the alum l98 heads are alot lighter, will yeald you more compression, etc...

Hard call. I guess it would depend on how much you want to spend..

Re: aluminum Vette heads VS vortec?

well the vortec heads are nice, but i cant see spending over $1000 on intake parts. just to get it to make power above 4500 lol.

I can take the $500 ill be saving by running a Lt1 intake and put toaward heads i guess. this sucks
