Question on what size injectors (383)?

I will be purchasing injectors very soon for my build. This is the combo I am putting together.

-383
-10.5 CR
-AFR "Eliminator" 195cc *1040 heads
-Miniram
-58 MM TB
-JE Pistons
-Eagle Crank
-Lunati Pro Mods Rods
-Stock ECM for now

I am aiming for 400rwhp. What injectors do you think? I dont want to max out the duty cycle. I would love to hear from guys who have built stroker's while using the short runner Miniram intake. If you are guessing then I dont really need to read your answers. I hope that doesnt sound mean, but it would be better to read answers from guys who have been there, and done that!!!!

My gut says 36's. Some say 30's, and some say 42's.

Re: Question on what size injectors (383)?

Accually I am using the LS1 28lbs'ers at a TPI 42 PSI which makes them 25lbs. My mods are 383 10.4.1 TF heads 219cam and Miniram I put down 360rwhp and have a lot more injectors left.

Re: Question on what size injectors (383)?

Ford Racing 24#/hr injectors at 48 to 50 psi should work fine for you. I have a 395 cu.in. stroker, running in the low 12s, with 24 #/hr Ford injectors at 52 psi. But will will need a new eprom chip no matter which injectors you use.

Also, do NOT install the LS1 injectors. They are 0.12" shorter (oring to oring) than the TPI injectors. There have been several fuel leaks reported here, with one I think being very bad.

Re: Question on what size injectors (383)?

A minirams high rpm potential, along with the flow characteristics of those heads, means I recommend 30 lbs injectors. I'm running 24lbs right now, and at 5500 rpms, I'm hitting 85% duty cycle, which is the limit for injectors. With my next combo I'm upgrading to 30lbs injectors. You can use the stock ECM, but you will need a custom chip burned to handle all that.

Re: Question on what size injectors (383)?

I've done 5 cars with LS1 injectors. No probs whatsoever. Heck the SVO's are shorter then the origionals too. I;ve accually had leaks with the SVO's but never the LS1's The key is people use the origonal o rings that come with the LS1's but accually there are the larger ones that form a tighter fit for the TPI cars.

Re: Question on what size injectors (383)?

I just purchased a set of the 30 lb SVO's for my setup. It's a 9.8 to 1 383 with Vortec heads, HSR, short tube headers, and .515- .520 lift cam. I'm hoping for at least 330 to the wheels.

Re: Question on what size injectors (383)?

I have the almost exact combo and I want to keep subscribed to this thread.

Here's my combo
383 stroker
10.9-1 compression
afr 195 eliminator
280 xfi cam (.552/.547)
LT1 intake
48mm throttle body(for now)
I am going to run 24 lb LT1 injectors for this year and once I get it tuned I will use bigger ones.

Re: Question on what size injectors (383)?

Doesnt that mean you will have to tune it twice? My stock injectors that came with my car from 1988 are 22's. What kind of power are you looking to make with those 24's. They will be at there max of there duty cycle. Why dont u just wait and get the one's you want? What lb are u thinking?

Re: Question on what size injectors (383)?

Being that I have the stock 48mm throttle body, I think that will be my bottle neck. So I will probably be fine for this year with that combo. Would like to make about 400 flywheel horsepower.

Next year I will have a 58mm TB and probably get the 30lb'ers.
