injector clips Wrong place?

well i posted a thread of a popping sound in my mufflers. And I know this might sound stupid but do the order of the injector clips matter? I mean what happens if you cross them left clip on right injector, and right clip on left injector? Will this cause that popping sound. And if it does matter, are they marked or something?, cause I did a TBI to TPI swap and in the process removed all the old wire loom that was no good anyway and cant tell witch goes on witch. Any help Please

Re: injector clips

it shouldnt matter from what i rember TPI is a batchfire system and the injectors fire all at the same time.

the poping sound out the mufflers is probly a sign that you are running a tad on the rich side

Re: injector clips

There are also lean pops. I had some of those last week.

TPI is batchfire. You don't need to worry about which plug goes on which injector. Impossible to mess up with the factory harnesses.

Re: injector clips

I thought "batch fire" meant that 1 bank of injectors, right or left, all fired at the same time. I think the connectors for each bank have a different color-code on the two wires. I don't think you can cross the connectors right to left and have the engine running correctly.

Re: injector clips

OK, I just looked. On my '91 L98 each injector (connector) on the right side has one GREEN and one pink/black stripe wire. Left side has BLUE and pink/black stripe. Factory original.

Re: injector clips

That color-coding also checks-out with the factory Chevrolet Service Manual. Left = drivers side, Right = passenger side.

Re: injector clips

Yes there's different wires to each side, and no it doesnt make any difference whatsoever where you hook them up.

Re: injector clips

nope, they should be anywhere between 14-17 ohms of resistance. 18 is fine.

however, your injectors could be bad and still read the right amount of ohms. an ohm test only reads the electrical resistance in the injector. it doesn't read whether or not the injector is clogged or spraying evenly.

Re: injector clips

you could send them to get flow tested. i can't remember the name of the one popular injector guy on here you could send them to, but can anyone else chime in?

Re: injector clips

A fuel pressure test will tell you if they're leaking.

I think the guy's name is Rich at Cruizin Performance that does injector cleaning and flow matching.
