My car runs briallantly with the MAF sensor disconnected. Why???

Why does my car run like an absolute dream with the MAF sensor unplugged?

Also, what is happening with the computer if it isn't getting any infor from the MAF? is it bad?

Anyone else noticed this?

Thanks for the help

Rob

That's the computer just trying to tell you something.
At this point you're about 4 steps away from swapping to a carb.

When it starts running better without the PROM in the ECM, you've made the next step.

Will it be ok though?

I can't see that anything bad will happen without it plugged in. I'm not wanting carb, I like my TPI

Maybe the open loop conditions just blend real well with your climate? That's if you dont have SD... and as far as I know open loop is just for emergencies ONLY and diagnostic purposed, but i could be wrong, anyone else know?

Send a message via ICQ to cdartz
open loop is for when the engine is still warming up. When the O2 sensor has not completely warmed up it can't send accurate information back to the ecm. The computer keeps the car in open loop until the temperature is hot enough for the O2 sensor to work correctly.
