is anyone running a ZZ9 cam in an LB9

I am wondering if there will be any real issues to deal with trying to run the ZZ9 cam in the LB9...

thanks,
Chris

Yes, piston-to-valve clearance, and coil bind. You'll have to change the springs on the heads, and you might have to machine the heads to accept the springs.

Im running a comparable cam inm a 305.
Comp Cam 210/220 .533/.544 114 lsa
Im using WP 305 heads. There is no problem with piston to head clearance, but springs are a big issue now.Mainly, the tops of all the exhaust springs broke off.
Spring pressure, coil bind, and installed hieghts are really important when dealing with high lift cams.

Hey Chris84TA, you shouldn't have a problem with the cam working, but the springs on the heads probably will, if there're stock heads. Why don't you replace the heads while you're already there. WP Torquer 305's are nice and fairly cheap. Just so you know, I also have a 305 and I have an SLP cam with a 218I 224E@114 lobe seperation, I do have the WP Torquer 305 heads though as I'm sure that made a difference, with no binding or other problems as I had them build with decent springs already. Good luck.

the setup will be backed by a WCT5 in an 84TA...

i will have a 5spd conversion under my belt in a few weeks so i will know better what to do the next time...
