Whos thinks they know about the 87 305 5.0 TPI

I have alot of questions for a rebuild or upgrade, i have a 87 305 5.0 TPI auto, with hedders and new exhaust. First of all my car runs like ****. 1. when first start idle is high . 2. loud noise when shifing into drive 3.loud vibrations in front passenger when in reverse.
How can i fix this car?
Whats the right way about doing this, is a 350 rebuilt motor a bad idea?

Whew!

Start at the beginning. Do you have a repair manual?

I recommend the Chilton's total car care manual for 82-92 Camaro. Great book.

If you don't have that then you are not ready to begin.

High idle with efi usually means vacuum leak somewhere. That also makes the car run like ****.

Loud noise wnen going into drive usually means broken transmission mount.

This also makes vibrations in reverse.

Get the manual and good luck to you!
