1987 FIREBIRD 5.0L TPI M.A.F IS BURNING OFF IN LESS THAN 6MNTS BRAND NEW AND REBUILT

A FRIEND HAS A 1987 PONTIAC FIREBIRD 5.0L TUNED PORT MASS AIR FLOW AND FOR SOME REASON IT KEEPS BURNING OFF ONCE YOU PUT IN A NEW M.A.F IT RUNS GREAT WITH NO PROBLEM BUT IN LESS THAN 6 MONTHS IT BURNS IT OFF AND IT STARTS TO IDLE ROUGH AND ALSO IT WONT RUN THE SAME I AM WONDERING WHAT MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM DO YOU THINK IT MIGHT BE THE ECM OR THE BRAND OF M.A.F HE IS BUYING HE GETS AUTOPARTS M.A.F AND ALSO REBUILT ONES WHAT DO YOU THINK MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM

Replace the burnoff relay? Maybe it can stay closed and keep the MAF hot wire constantly energized?
