Exhaust crossovers and Dart heads

I got a set of Dart Iron eagles going on here pretty soon and somebody mentioned something about exhaust crossovers or something in the heads. WTF is that? is this an EGR thing? I have no idea if the Darts have them or even what the crossovers do. Help please Can i modify my emmisions system to bypass the crossovers or do i not need to even worry about it? Thanks for the help everyone.

Yes, it is an EGR related item. It is also used to heat the manifold on older cars. Dart Iron Eagles DO NOT have provisions for this.
You can bypass it. Vortec heads do not have crossovers either, they use an externally plumbed system to route the EGR gases back to the manifold. You would need to use the same kind of setup if you are planning on using the Darts.

you silly silly man. why dont you ever ask me?

just take off your emissions crap and block off the egr and put a intake gasket with the little metal thingie in the middle to block off the EGR also.

problem solved.

my EGR has been disable for a while now and i hardly ever get a SES light, just when the computer tries to open the valve is when it comes on, then when it wants it closed it shuts off. haven't had the light in about a year and when i did it was only for like 10 minutes

Wussy boy , its not that hard , your just getting around the pits like that .

That thingy above the valve cover is not emissions stuff , it has to do with the heater , Coolant runs thru those hoses and that valve thing . You could omit the valve and re-route the hoses . Without the valve coolant would costantly flow thru the heater core , I would assume . I will be doing this to mine while the car is down , among many other things , can you say re-wire time . Time to clean house

When your ready to desmog yourself , just call . I could come up and help if it were on a Sat. or something , just have alot a Mountain Dew . L8
