1987 FIREBIRD PROBS>>also any hints on how to "bREAK" into a firebird

hEY GUYS. i LOCKED MY KEYS IN MY FIREBIRD (1987) Like two hours agoand NEED help on how to get into the car. I am not pating a locksmith 100bucks to get my keys. Any SECRETS" on how to get into the car? Has power locks dont work though so i just use the knobs.
Also my car just started giving me probs today. I was driving my fiebird around yesterday for about 3hours put 40 miles on it(City driving.) And today i went down to put a new airfresiner in the car(Mango scented). And while i was down there i figured i would start her. So i did fired up but only went to 500RPM's (*Cold) then 200 then it went up to 600 then 100 then it died. So i figured air bubble(I just put 12 gallonds in it two days ago.)and it fired up went to 100 rpms then stalled all this happened in about 1/2 a second. and that all it does not is start then die. it sound like the fuel pump is pumping cause i hear the little wine when i put it to "On" so any ideas?

The performance shop down the street from where i live, sells a lock opening kit, it has instructions for every car without antitheft systems. Cost $45

It even comes with a key that will open most cars
didnt work on my firebird though (the key). The opener probably will though.

Re: 1987 FIREBIRD PROBS>>also any hints on how to "bREAK" into a firebird

I remember I did this once after that, I started carrying a flat copy of the lock opening key in my wallet. The way I would "break into" my car is knowing that my windows weren't in the best shape, so I would pull one down about 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch and you can do 1 of 2 things. A) get a coat hanger and fish out your keys or B) with the same coat hanger, fold it in to an "L" shape and try to unlock the car from the inside. My keys were in the ignition, so I just got the "L" rod and kept swipping near the inside door handle until I felt the little lock knob unlock...

ps. How did the Mango Scent work out for you?

I've done that before. Took me 3 minutes to get into it. These cars are so pathetic when it comes to keeping people out. You really should get an extra door key.

You may have gas line freeze.

Smells Really Nice. In my old camaro i had watermellon that was the best smelling camaro ever.
Also guys i went down today bought me some "Gold" Performance rotor and cap. Some bosh platnum 2 plugs and some red aceel wires. I havent pu the wires or the plugs in yet. But i did put the rotor and cap in. The car starts instatly but if you dont give it any throttle it will die. But if you gice it 1/4 throttle for about 15-20 second it will stay running by it's self and wont die.
Any ideas?

i also got the keys out they where in the ignition so i got a 6 foot long metal hood and cgrabed hem out of the ignition and pulled them thrugh the little space in the window.

you might not want to install those Bosch Platinum plugs. I heard they foul out real quick in our cars.. I go with regular AC Delcos and with Champions on my cylinder that burns oil...

you know, i had the problem where my car would shut off if i reved it up than let off the gas, im currently ordering a new intake system for my 97 trans am because of that, turns out my elbow to my intake was cracked, it ran just fine while i was on the gas but letting off it would drop to 500 rpm or just die, which was due to way to much air going into the mixture, so check out ur intake make sure u have no cracks in it, my whole elbow broke in 2, dont ask me how U_u

hey, i had the same problem where if i hit my gas then let off my car would end up droppin to 500 rpm than stall, the problem was i had a huge crack in my intake, so u may wanna check out ur intake system and make sure theres no cracks or holes in it, mine happend cuz the system didnt fit so the hood closed on it pressing it down and i guess the heat just caused it to crack, gl

Please do the basics first before buying anything and wasting money.

Go buy/rent the fuel pressure tester from Autozone or your local Autoparts store. Costs to buy $50 and is worth it to buy it for future problems. Probably less than the unneeded things you bought for no reason. Get the option of it being a fuel problem then continue testing/inspecting every sensor and ignition component.

Also get some spares, they are worth the $3 investment.

I know its the problem because i turned my car back on when it cut off on the side of the high way popped the hood n seen the crack, i then pushed the elbow together to cover the crack n my engine idle went back up to 1k rpms, roarin like a champ, duct taped the intake to get me back home n she ran like it was 1997 again even hit a victory donut haha

AC Delco > Bosch Platinum or those Rapidfire plugs. Nothing beats the AC Delcos, IMO.
