Ignition Advance- Old Large Cap HEI

I'm to the point of needing to hook up my vac advance to the manifold somewhere and suddenly find myself asking "Is there even a ported vac source on a tpi system?"

Can I get my old vac advance plumbed in?

Thanks, Jim

No, there's no ported vacuum on TPI. Why would you want to run vacuum advance on a TPI system in the first place?

Re: Ignition Advance- Old Large Cap HEI

I didn't give enough info. Sorry. I have an old 3/4 truck 4 bolt and a 92 vette tpi manifold set... Also, 4 months ago I bought one of those sexy eBay large capped mech/vac advance clear capped high output distributors. I was hoping to be able to use it without driving the ignition by the megasquirt.

I do have a small used computer controlled hei that I thought I'd install after running the engine fuel only MS2 for a while.

The old distributor probably isn't going to be able to send the right signals to the megasquirt anyway.

Yeah... May as well ditch the large clear cap for this setup.

I'm glad I didn't use the small capped hei as mallet while it was on the bench the last few months!

Thanks, Jim
