how to test fuel pump or find short

My fuel pump does'nt buzz at all when i put the key in the on postion,Im pretty sure the relay for it works because it clicks when i put the key in the on position.But how do i find out if the pump is bad or if it is just a short somehwere.Thanks for the help

yeah the car starts right up and seems to run fine but it keeps popping code 54.The service engine light only comes on about every othere time i take the car out.I unplugged the batt to reset the comp but the code comes backup.any ideas??thanks

Unplug the connector to the fuel pump relay and look at the contacts. Mine were not making good connection and caused the same symptoms you are having. I found replacements at Pep Boys for 3.00.

Something about the relay connects, they are cursed ! I replaced modulator, cap, rotor coil, still wouldnt start! finally we cleaned the relay connects and that solved our problem.
