here is the deal on warm cruise the egr is coming on hard causing the car to surge and will stall at lites check engine comes on disable the egr and it runs good. my car is a conversion running a 91 speed density harness and everything is 91 {sensors, modules, etc}. i made the vac lines and have the egr supply hooked to the port at the botto of the throttle body. i know the valve is good and all sensors and engine parts are new. is my egr control solenoid the problem??. i tried to get a new one but it is not availble from any parts supplier i could locate thinking of modding a tbi unit to fit.
thanks
luke

3 things come to mind, the solenoid could be sticking, the vent port is clogged, or you have the lines on the solenoid hooked up wrong.
when the ECM turns the solenoid off, it should bleed the vacuum off right away. you can Tee a vacuum gage into the line between the solenoid & valve & see if it holds vacuum when you let off the throttle.
but with the vacuum lines hooked up right a problem with the solenoid is really the only thing that makes sense.

using a solenoid from a TBI system should work just fine.

No, a TBI solenoid and a TPI solenoid are backwards. One is normally open and the other is normally closed, but I dont remember which is which.
