Fuel pressure regulator question

Ok wheres the deal, First of all I am new to this whole iroc, tpi stuff so please bear with me. I inherited a 87 Iroc with a 350 that replaced the 305 with tpi. the car has been sitting for 10 yrs and I never started it yet. I installed a adjustable fuel pressure reg, now when I turn the key on to prime the system fuel blows out of the line that comes off the fuel pressure reg, I am guessing this is not right, so my question is what did I do wrong? Fuel is not supposed to come out the vacuum line right? So why is it?..?? Please understand I am new and learning this stuff one step at a time, I am lucky enough to figure out how to turn a computer on so I am learning..LOL..Thanks guys for the help!!!

Re: Fuel pressure regulator question

A picture, link, or part number for this regualtor would help, but in general you should have no fuel coming out any port that is smaller than 3/8" on a pressure regulator. I'm guessing there is a diaphram that moves to regulate pressure, and that diaphram is either not sealing or is torn.

Re: Fuel pressure regulator question

That means that fuel is leaking past or through the vacuum diaphragm. Maybe the diaphragm is torn...
