Re: 1986 corvette heads

If you get corvette heads make sure they are the 113's. The '88 and later heads are a better design. I'm running a pair of ported vette heads with 2" intake valves and 1.6" exhaust valves. They are 50 pounds lighter then the camaro heads, and when worked on like mine are they are worth about 50 horsepower. In stock form they are just slightly better than the camaro heads. The egr is a different design that requires the corvette intake manifold and an external egr pipe.

Re: 1986 corvette heads

If you do go for the 86 vette heads, note that the early ones were cast iron and the later ones were Alloy (128's) but as stated above the '88 113's are the better ones.

The cast iron ones are the dreaded 462624s, they're junk. Only convertible 86's had alu heads, and they're the 1st design (14101128)

Late '86 coupes also had alu heads.

Re: 1986 corvette heads

I've seen them at http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-p...ale-wanted-55/ several times.
You might want to just watch out for them. I've seen several sets at descent prices on ebay also. Make sure seller has great feedback.

Re: 1986 corvette heads

Late model ZZ4 heads are 113 casting TPI heads, with springs for .510" lift and factory port work. They are a cleaner casting than the stock corvette pieces and WORTH finding. They won't cost you any more than a set of 113 stock Vette heads.
