vortec tpi intake

I have an 305 and I want to get 350 vortec heads. I was wondering where I can find the cheapest intake that will fit. and I was wondering about headers that will work too.

Re: vortec tpi intake

Scoggin-Dicky commissioned Edelbrock to build a Vortec base for tpi. That is the only base on the market that will work with Vortec heads.

I think the TPIS intake is actually the Edelbrock piece with TPIS stamped into it.

Re: vortec tpi intake

I think you would be wise to read the thread "Super Vortec tpi base" by Jerry Who before investing in a set of Vortec heads. Vortec heads may be cheap, but they need a lot of work to handle the sort of lift you want in a performance engine, and then the amount of work needed to get the base to flow decent numbers will run the price up considerably. I think it would be a lot less expensive to get almost any of the aftermarket heads designed for tpi on L98 motors than to try to do all of the work needed to make the Vortecs work, unless you are like Jerry with a heliarc machine and complete machine shop in your garage.
